Forgotten Part Of Blackburn Lancashire!
This video is designed to embarrass Blackburn With Darwen Council for their total lack of duty to the tax payers of this part of the town! In over 12 years, most of this area hasn't seen any maintenance by the street cleansing department and this is simply not good enough! I contacted the Town Hall on the 12th November 2014 and reported an incidence of fly tipping and the overall disgusting state of OUR area. I even sent an email with a couple of photos attached (see the thumbnail for one of them) showing a footpath with a carpet of green moss on it! Well 6 weeks later and nothing had been done. So I telephoned the Cleansing department again and asked why no action had been taken despite my clear evidence? I was promised that someone would contact me very soon. Well on the 5th of January 2015, I rang the Town Hall for a third time! This time I was put through to the Highways department and spoke to a manager. He said how he was sorry that my case hadn't been looked at and requested that I resend the photos. Well today is the 5th of February 2015 and STILL there has been no response!!! Well it's time to act accordingly.

Hundreds of years worth of history in that area of Blackburn and it is left to be buried under piles of rubbish and smack needles.

I have to say, after seeing your film of the area around queens park, I was a bit shocked, This was my favourite part of town, when I was growing up, and it was always spotless, It saddens me to see how the local council have lost the old strict cleansing routine, which was a priority back then, neglect is there for all to see.Have they spent the allocated funding on less deserving causes ? Like Queens park, Corporation Park has also lost much of its once proud spotless image, and in particular the old Victorian Conservatory, It really is sad to see.

Hi Tony. I met with a representative from the cleansing dept last month and discussed the problems with him at the scene and he promised action, although he said that the cleansing dept get 22p per home from the council tax. I'm not concerned about this, we just want the council to do the work we pay for! Roughly a week later there was indeed work carried out. Now almost at the middle of March nobody has been near since! This is why I have made public these videos again. From where I'm sitting, having a Labour council has done Blackburn no favours at all, especially when there's a Tory government in power!
Used to be stunning, round Ramsgreave. Now, it looks doggo.

....contacting the press, incl. photos might shame them into action. I took photos of dumped rubbish...and a dead rat, in the back street...but they still say ...''it will be cleared in around 10 days time''...by then MORE rubbish will have been dumped - but because it's in split black bags, the bloody binmen ignore it all, despite squashed, stinking food waste in it !! I tried to access the Telegraph website..but it's a bit complicated. What about lack of icy road treatments...?..did you know that lad who died on Ramsgreave Road?

....by the way, the REASON behind the increase in fly-tipping...?....the council has closed the waste / recycling yard in town, to save money due to the ConDem budget cuts!
Thats shambolic, & what seems a underwhelming response from the Council. Have to say though as a fellow Blackburner, its no better in any other area ie Witton. The usual pass the buck council response, funny how they always seem to lose the e mails/ photos aint it?
