Forgotten Badasses: Greg Lloyd

Спорт

One of the greatest linebackers of the 1990s. Often overlooked because of a short career caused by injury. All clips courtesy of NFL films and NBC.

Greg Lloyd played for the Steelers from 1988 to 1997. He was a member of the "Blitzburgh" linebacking unit in the 90's.

Still the most intimadating defensive player i have ever watch play for the steelers. The new steeler fans may think they no what an intimadating player is for a steelers d but the closest one since is James harrison and even he doesnt compare to The lloyd.

2:10 Lloyd sticking it to Means....That Chargers team went to the S.B. and got destroyed by SanFran, Chargers beat Pittsburgh in the AFC championship game, most heart-breaking lost in the 90s for me.

Not forgotten by any means. I was growing up when he played and he is the reason I still love defense today. He brought is every play and the other team had to game plan around him. I know somewhere there is a retired NFL player that cringes when he hear the name Lloyd and starts looking over his shoulder.

I live in Destin,Fl.Kevin Greene also resides here, met him on numerous occasions, class act, always takes time to talk and reminisce and when speaking with him Lloyd always comes up."Meet me at the Quarterback!",probably the two reasons I became a part of steelers nation as a young lad.

He said back in 1995 he was going to knock Dan Marino into next week, and then HE went out and DID hit Marino hard!! Marino was the premodonna before Brady. Marino objected to the hit but it was legal. What I wouldn't do to see Greg Lloyd KNOCK TOM BRADY into a wheelchair!!!

Greg played football in college for the same school I played at, Fort Valley State University! This school has a history of having one of the most dominating defenses in D2 and has sent some of the best to the NFL, Tyrone Poole (Patriots), Eddie “The Hitman” Anderson (Raiders), Peppi Zellner (Cowboys) and Nick Harper (Colts). But Lloyd definitely was the baddest and the nastiest on the field!

He's forgotten by me or any othet legit football fan. He's one of the best Steeler LB's of all time. Lambert, Ham, Russel, Green, Gildon, Brown, Kirkland, Holmes, Emmons, Harrison, Bell, Porter. Some great players. Lloyd was easily the most undersized, but he was also the biggest hitter. Could rush passer with the best of them. But GREAT in coverage. Underrated player

Hall of Famer to me and its 2020. Guys in there with less impressive stats than his. When I think of an NFL Football Player I think of Gred Lloyd and he's been retired for a bit. THE most intimidating player I have ever watched play. Had that cool azzed face mask to match. I've seen interviews of Dan Marino and Steve Young in retirement whom both said they were scared of that dude. Steeler Great. Guys today quick to say Harrison whom was good; but Greg Lloyd was something else.
