FORGOTTEN 1956 Buick Special - WILL IT RUN & DRIVE After Sitting 25 Years??? (Auction Find)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Hey everyone and welcome back to Iowa Classic Cars! Auctions are always fun and sometimes you score a real gem. This video features a 1956 Buick Special 4 dr hardtop AKA sport sedan that i recently bought at an auction in northern Iowa. This car was bought relatively cheap because "its a 4 door and not worth anything" according to the auctioneer. With a little cleaning of the points, this old Buick came out of a 25 year slumber and will be back on the streets cruising again and being enjoyed! If you enjoy the video, please leave a LIKE rating and SUBSCRIBE if you're new!

Very nice find on the '56 Buick it's rare to find a four-door hardtop and if you want to make that horn louder there's usually a screw on the horn itself the horn under the hood that you could adjust, to make it louder or lower it's possible somebody turned it down because it was too loud but they're usually a adjustment screw on the horn to change the sound thought I'd let you know, again great find 👍🏼

Nice! That's a rare FACTORY A/C car. I see you're running the small carb... The two bbl was standard, the 4 barrel was optional and made those things SCREAMERS. Also optional on the Special was dual exhaust. NICE FIND! Oh! When you go to service it for the first time, drain the old oil and refill it with cheap ATF... Start it up, but DO NOT REV IT... Let it idle for an hour or so. The ATF will loosen up all of the crud that's accumulated and also free up your rings and valves. After it's good and warm, drain it and THEN replace your oil filter and add new engine oil. Cheers again on a great find!

A good friend of mine has a 1956 Buick Century with Dynaflow transmission ... Fantastic car! I went cruising with him a couple of times and it's always a thrill to hear the sound of the V8! He uses it little because it consumes a lot of fuel and here in Italy gasoline has reached crazy prices! Nice find man! 👍😎

That would be the perfect candidate for Buicks famous 1956 tri-tone paint. White roof, red body and black below the check mark with red Wheels.

Just a helpful hint for you, whenever you need to prime a carburetor with fuel from a bottle always put a cap on the bottle with a small hole in it, it's far easier to control the fuel flow amount when your squirting it in ( it's also far safer ) ....keep the videos coming !

Hi, this is my first time watching your channel and I really enjoyed it ! I grew up in Minnesota by the way where cars do get a bit of rust. I clicked on this as I remember well as a child this was my Dad's car. It was light yellow with a black interior and I remember well riding in the back seat. What a Cool car ! With our growing family Dad traded it in for a 1964 Chevy Impala station wagon, also a very Cool car ! The Joy is I am now at the age where I can probably start thinking about owning one or two classic cars myself ! Thank you for reading and I will keep an eye on your channel for more Classic car videos !

@@IowaClassicCars Yes, I was happy when I brought it home. 😃 But the sad thing was that I didn't get the key to the car. So had to buy a new ignition lock and luggage lock. Now I just have to fix the door lock too 🙈 but it's not that important right now. I still have a bit to do on it before I can registration inspection it 😊 Hope you understand my english 😂

Actually, the starter switch is built into the carburetor casting and is activated by the linkage when you step on the gas pedal. The travel of the pedal is adjusted by adding or subtracting shims.

I had a 56 Special 2 door sedan, 322 Stromberg 2 barrel carb, and Dynaflow automatic. Got it free with 120, 000 miles from the original owner. Was factory tri-tone paint scheme. White top, metallic gunmetal gray down to the side trim and red below the trim, wide whites on red wheels. Decode your trim tag for paint code. Mine had the same red and black interior. Buick called all their models that were 2 or 4 door hardtops Riviera so yours is a Riviera Special 4 door hardtop. Chevy called their 4 doors sport sedans, 56 was the first year. Mine, like yours didn't have power steering or brakes. Loved driving it but you did hav to drive it with out power assist.

Great car Ryan! And great of you to take your friend Ed around in it, especially since he once owned a '56 Buick. One thing though, I notice a lot of KZreadrs treat long time latent ancient mobiles by pouring "Marvel Mystery Oil" in the cylinders to prevent pistons that may be sticking, from scouring the cylinders walls. I'm surprised you did not do this.
