This is a powerful prayer for those struggling to forgive yourself after betrayal or something you've done to hurt your spouse. Often times, the betrayers unforgiveness of self, hinders the healing of the betrayed spouse. This prayer will offer immediate healing and freedom to not carry the weight of unforgiveness.
FORGIVENESS OF SELF and being present while the betrayed is processing forgiveness:
Praise:
Heavenly Father, I come before you with a heart full of gratitude for your forgiveness even when I don’t feel like I can forgive myself. I thank you for the strength you provide in times of healing and restoration. Your mercy is never ending and is abundant when I call on you. In 1 kings 8:30 it says that when you hear our prayers, you also forgive us. And in Jer 31:34 it says that you forgive and remember it no more!
Repent:
Lord, I bring before you the burden of unforgiveness I carry within.
I repent for holding onto the weight of my mistakes and for not fully embracing the forgiveness you offer. I turn away from self-condemnation and choose to receive your mercy. Please forgive me for this and release me from this unforgiveness.
Ps 27:1 says the Lord is my strength of my life. Thank you for giving me the strength I need to forgive each and every time. Right now, I take authority over every demon that is released against me, my marriage and my family. I bind and rebuke every marriage breaking spirit in Jesus name. I renounce all ungodly anger, and I give no place to the devil in my life or marriage as it says in Ephesians 4:27.
I renounce all hatred, anger, resentment, revenge, retaliation, unforgiveness, and bitterness in the name of Jesus. I chose forgiveness towards my spouse who hurt me, disappointed me, abandoned me, mistreated me, or rejected me in Jesus name.
Ask:
God, I ask for your help in forgiving myself for the pain I've caused in my marriage. Open up my eyes God to see Truth. Fill me with your peace and assurance of your love.
God’s promises + truth:
I declare the truth of your Word over my life. In Philippians 4:13, I am reminded that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Help me to forgive myself as you have forgiven me (Colossians 3:13). I claim the promise in Psalm 103:12 that you have removed my sins "as far as the east is from the west."
Thank you, Lord, for the transformative power of forgiveness. I choose to be present with my spouse and to actively engage in the process of forgiveness and trusting in your grace. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
