Both an ax and a stick were made from a single piece of leaf spring, this is called a miracle of workmanship.

Out of curiosity, what was the quench and temper? That thing is gonna be seriosly tough. Love how you tested it properly, that's how you know you got a good heat treat!

Elijah I really like this project of yours. I would love to see you make another one, possibly by forge welding the head to the handle and put some really nice scales on it. A friend of mine is having him make a couple for him and I'm thinking about using 4142 for the head and RR clip for the handle and homemade micarta scales. I know you are extremely talented and think you could make a great one that looks awesome too

Really nice work as always. The zombie killer in me wants one of these to hang on the wall in one of those display cases that reads "in case of zombie apocalypse, break glass" 😂😂😂

Good work, but I have never seen the need for a tomahawk. I've been camping for almost 50 years, and I never saw a situation where I needed a 'hawk over a hatchet. Every time that I have seen a fellow camper with a tomahawk, they needed to borrow an axe to drive in their tent stakes. Also, they didn't seem to be able to sharpen their tomahawk enough to chop firewood. Usually the tomahawk users would also fail to start a fire with a Ferro rod, and would ask me for some matches. Tomahawks are like Rambo knives- in the right hands they can be useful, but buyers are usually inexperienced and buy them for the romance of owning a tomahawk, not the utility. I hope you make hatchets, also.

Do you sell these? 400 years ago, my ancestors were blacksmiths. I didn't inherit the gene. This is a nice hawk - I'd buy one.

How big is your swage block? I just found one from one of the old mines here in Juneau AK. It’s 210 lbs.

I don't know how much it weighs, it actually belongs to a buddy of mine, 210 sounds like a pretty good weight though on yours, cool history too
