I have wanted to forge a slingshot for a while and finally got the chance when Ryan Adams the owner of Bell Hill Forge reached out to me. We forged an awesome slingshot out of a train railroad spike. It ended up taking us all day to forge the railroad spike into a slingshot since we spent so much time goofing off ;) And of course, everything takes longer when you are trying to film it and make a good how-to make a slingshot video at the same time. But the forging of the slingshot and a spinner turned out awesome. The spinner was not forged out of the railroad train spike just a small bit of tool steel Ryan brought along for the purpose. We managed to shoot the forged slingshot for only 20 minutes the day we finished but the next day another forged slingshot showed up in the mail. That provides us the perfect opportunity to go out and have some fun and a little bit of companion between Chris and me with each of us shooting a forged slingshot. Me with the slingshot forged from a railroad spike and Chris Taylor with the forged slingshot made from rod iron that came in the mail.

Man! That was awesome. In Oct. my wife and will be forged with Jay Replogle and I may get forge a slingshot to celebrate our 11th anniversary. Seems like a trend is starting. Thanks guys.

That's a sweet portable forge setup! I'd probably have to use a 50lb anvil, because loading that monster in and out of the truck would not be fun for me HAHA.

Down Memory Lane, Your blacksmith has the identical vice and anvil that I grew up with. I'm not a smithy but want to give it a go (but all sold in the clearing sale years ago). This morning I tried out my homemade forge for the first time then watch this,,, and then think I've got all these old railway spikes I've collected. I now have my next job in mind. Thank you.
