Deer Antler Shed Hunting For Making Slingshots (Vlog #25)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Packed up our slingshot and headed out to do some Hunting for deer antler sheds. One of my favorite slingshots is made from a deer antler shed and its that time of year again where the deer shed there antlers. So Chris and i decided to head out into the woods on a walk about and see if we can find some shed or at the very least we should bring home a few good natural fork. We also brought our slingshots and some ammo just to have a bit of fun shooting the slingshots at some wild targets. Makes for good practice not to just alway shoot at my shooting range at home. Its so satisfying when you take a shot with a slingshot at an uncalculated distance and make the shot.

Many different designs for each type of project are also included. For example, there are hundreds of designs kzread.infoUgkxb2mhCug-GkCWrq69Ce2I0nM0D4QpxAqu for outdoor buildings, from small sheds all the way up to a complete stable. Choose whatever type of shed or storage house is right for you. Pick from fancy ones or more utilitarian designs.

Your property looks great for an archery 3D shooting range. We have one down the road from me and it costs 8 bucks to shoot it one time through. I know you said you don't shoot bow anymore but I thought it makes a little extra doe on the side. You could make a slingshot shooting range that would be cool. Hey nice Job on the article on the Duck Hunter in the Back Woodsman. I enjoyed reading it. I look for many more articles down the road. Making a sling shot or how to improve your accuracy.

There is a type of bow system it has basically Two bows same waited poundage with an apparatus weird handle system and a patch between both bows which allows you to shoot rocks instead of barrels you can probably shoot arrows to but without the rubber band uses all bow pressure like an a bow and arrow long time ago I seen it in a backwoodsman magazine haven't been able to find one since or even know what copy to look for in backwoodsman it's been over a decade sorry but that is a Best of Both Worlds shooting a bow that flings rocks or steel ball bearings doesn't use a band so you can use all natural materials might be a worthwhile if possible Endeavor to look up unfortunately my technical skills in looking that type of stuff up suck

I’m thinking of getting one of the slingshots on your website to tryout during squirrel season what type would you suggest and what type of ammo would you use? I may try and make one myself and just use your pouches and bands.

I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry to the bearded Wonder please please forgive me Bill Hayes quote Answer: This is both an easy and a difficult question to answer, because glass, steel and lead all have different specific masses (weigh different per same size). But, I'm going to try and make it as easy as possible for you to understand, regardless. So what I'm going to do is give you the formula for steel ball ammo, and since lead is about 50% heavier and glass is about 50% lighter than steel it's going to be fairly easy to compensate from there. For 0.03 thickness latex you simply cut the small end so that it's 1 1/2 times the size of the ammo and the large end is twice as wide as the ammo.... So 1/4" steel ball ammo needs tapers of 3/8" X 1/2"... and 1/2" steel ball ammo needs tapers of 3/4" X 1". For glass ammo, the small end of the taper needs to be the same size as the ammo with the wider end being 1 1/2 times the width of the ammo.... a 1/2" marble uses tapers of 1/2" X 3/4" and a 3/4" marble uses 3/4" X 1" tapers. For lead ammo, your cuts can either be 50% wider than steel's.... or simply use two bands per side instead of one, and utilise the formula for glass marbles. (1/2" lead ball, TWO 1/2" X 3/4" tapered bands per side of the pouch.) For straight cut bands, make them about 1 3/4 wider than the ammo (steel). For Theraband Gold, it's a tiny bit thinner than 0.03, so to compensate cut about 5% wide

Personally for squirrels I use inch and 1/8 Thera-Band gold taper down to 7/8 10 inches long I believe 7/16 Steel and somewhere around a quarter inch lead I actually have to measure both of those I am not positive but they are tough little critters so unless you can consistently do headshots at 20 yards minimum I would suggest you go practice with your slingshot on targets and carry a shotgun or 22 for the squirrels I used to use doubled 1 inch straight cuts at 10 inches long Thera-Band gold with 7/8 inch LEAD and through very much research and trial and error I learned smaller ammo faster bands and more accurate shots is the way to deal with them

And if somebody has more or better advice please chime in because I'm still on the learning curve of slingshot hunting and be prepared for frustration because those little boogers love to dodge your ammo obviously cuz I'm not smart enough to shoot at them when there not looking at me
