Forging a medieval collared axe

The pattern of this axe stems from a 14th century scandinavian axe.
The body is made of mild steel whilst the bit is made of 100cr6 which is hardened and tempered to 59HRC.
The blade length is 150mm with the whole head weighing in at 0.8kg.

    Very well. Thank you. It is believed that the sleeve was welded first. Next, the body of the ax was welded to the finished sleeve.

    thanks, it is a combination of the runes for L and H, they are the initials of our apprentice who made this axe
