Nice job!! That style is so cool. Lin Rhea is another. Lots to learn in copying what looks like a simple design. Kudos for upping your game and trying a new style! Forge On!

I am really looking forward to watching you craft the handle! I guess if you like the end product enough to make more handles like it, that would justify making dies for your press to get the top strap in the configuration you want.

Cool build, Steve! I follow JoshP and have met him at Maker's Camp.. .great guy. He helped me with some stainless damascus in a video a while ago. In your build, I gotta say I was yelling "swage block" when you were hammering on that handle. 😜 Looking forward to the next one.

Since you like experimenting, would it be interesting to nickel plate a high carbon steel knife, to protect it from oxydation (except of course the cutting edge). How would it resist to abuses, and cleaning, over time?...

interesting idea. I bet it scratches off pretty easy. unless you really caked it on. I've heard you can get it to about a mm?

You can start a dish on the horn step where the face ends. turn the flat so you can hammer into the V with a cross peen.

Not a criticism at all, I think you did great. But since you don't have a swage, why not use a straight or cross peen hammer and put the piece in the cavity of the step on the anvil?
