killer hatchet!
Nice, but please consider to have music or turn down the volume. I love to see these videos but I prefer the sound of the tools.

I was completely on board here until you pressed the axe head on. I know it's not a big deal as long as everything is shaped to fit right and you don't over stress the wood in the press, but I can hear my grandfather rolling his eyes from his grave. Looks like an excellent tool! Enjoyed the video.
Man Paul, I'm sorry as hell that I didnt find your channel much sooner than today! You have a great channel and make tools that are relevant to me and what I do. I've been a Welding Fabricator for 40 plus years, it sure would have been nice to have some of your skills at your age.
Awesome video bro. Now I know what my next project is! Off to the forge.

That is a really nice one looks perfect for spoon carving. I would like to try it for that. Great work. I checked but don’t see on your website yet. Is there a chance it will be there?
Show me the wedge for that cross cut on the eye portion, please :)
Ahhhhh I finally figured out why on your blacksmith mark why one of your "P's" are reversed. I'm sure people figured that out in elementary school and you never heard the last of it. 😂
Awesome work Paul, keep it up mate and good quality videos. Can I just make a suggestion, don't worry too much about having music on the videos or have it really soft, the work is interesting enough without any music and being able to just hear you working away is more than good enough. - Also, I loved your Damascus knife, I see you have a shop online but don't see it listed on the shop. - If you make another I would love to buy one.
Good one Paul, where you been mate, on New Year holidays, by the way, Happy New Year matey.

Hi Paul. I have a question. Where could I find a raw hickory wood or lumber? I want to build me a custom Axe Handle. Thanks buddy
Oohhhh that scared the piss out of me when you were pulling the cheeks down on the horn like that gibmhuu da ebbie jeebies lol , nice anvil bro is it an soderfers???
nice work, at 6:08, the small wheel grinder attachment, is that from kmg?
I see the head tip as you pressed it do you put a wedge and epoxy to keep it in place? be well and be safe
@PaulPinto
5 жыл бұрын
I press it on and than use wood glue to secure the wood wedge in but lately I’ve been using metal wedges too
Why did you cut the wood for the wedge two different ways?
Great video! How come you tempered it with a torch vs the oven?
@martinbissonnette257

SE Collectiv because he wanted to keep the hardness on the edge but soften the eye and hammer side so it wouldn’t check or chip

Hy , what steel do you use?
Outstanding job!. Very nice looking hatchet. How much did the billet weigh before and how much did the finished head weigh after, if you don't mind me asking. Also, sorry if I missed it but what is the composition of the bilet metal?
I came here for the first time. I want to forge.

Just a few questions for you sir, What kind of press and how many tons? and what brand of grinder if i may ask? also, your videos are always great. very inspiring!
@PaulPinto

Thank you! I built the press and it’s about 15 tons but I’m about to build a new one that’s around 30 and the grinder is a Beaumont metal works kmg grinder

@@PaulPinto Thanks very much, as someone who aspires to do some of the things that you do, this is extremely helpful. Also, maybe you could detail your new press build as a video? i know i would like that very much.
I don't like to be a complainer or tell someone how to run their own business lol but I would make one request if it's ok. Can you please give us a little bit of commentary or voice over of the process your going through as you go through each stage. Otherwise great video.
Correct me if I’m wrong but it looks like you made the taper in the axe head wrong. You made it smaller at the top but it’s supposed to be larger. And then you made two perpendicular cuts in the top of the handle. And then just did a press fit? I mean I know you used a bottle press but over time it could still work loose.
@PaulPinto
5 жыл бұрын
The taper is supposed to be an hourglass shape, wider at the top and bottom and narrow in the middle. I made two cuts because I used two wedges for a tighter fit and the bottle jack gives me a much tighter fit and lets me drive the wedge way deeper than you ever could with a hammer because it will just crack eventually after repeatedly hitting it.
@MyUnquenchableThirst
5 жыл бұрын
ok then I guess I just missed the part when the wedges went in.
Fuck me, pressing the handle into the head looks like a much more convenient way than hammering it, hah.
What this material?
Would you sell it?....or one like it?....Carried guns as part of my job , for thirty yrs....but never owned one of my own....not for long anyway, once I bought a rifle for hunting ended up giving it away to a friend.....I love axes....and blades....
6:03 hmmmmmm
How to contact You?
You do awesome work but I would rather the music was left out
@PaulPinto
5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I’ve had a few people say that but I just use it to cover up the noise from the press it gets kinda annoying
That's more for kindling and carving not chopping trees
🇧🇷👍👊👊👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I like the addition of music, but I think it's a bit off for this type of video. I can see why you use very upbeat and happy music, possibly with inspiration from Alec Steele, but I would recommend to tone it down a little and give the tool and metalwork a more prominent place in the video. It's one of the things I love about your other video. I still think you should have music, but if possible, I think it would be better mixed with the raw audio, instead of having sections with each
Love your work, but wish you’d leave the music out.
