Forget the Past | Isaiah 43 | Gary Hamrick

If you have no regrets in life, it’s probably because you haven’t lived long enough. We all have regrets; regrets about things we’ve done or said; regrets about things left undone or unsaid; regrets about what happened to us, or things that never happened that he had wished for. What we do with our regrets is the difference between someone who moves forward and someone who is stuck in the past. God says to us in Isaiah 43:18, “Forget the former things. Do not dwell on the past.” But what does that mean? And how do we do that? This is the subject of today’s study from the book of Isaiah with Pastor Gary.

This is so profoundly powerful. The enemy is in the habit of reminding us the past and the former things to try and keep us going round in circles chasing our tails and in all this , keeping us busy "treadmilling" or in a rocking chair, so much action but no movement, all this he designs it in order that we may not look forward to the new thing that God is doing or wants to do in our lives. This is such an amazing sermon and God bless you and your ministry immensely. Thank you also for highlighting how the enemy feeds us with guilt that makes us unable to forgive ourselves, in all this his intent and purpose is to fill us with pride that makes us focus on ourselves instead of God who is the one who forgives, and guess what, pride is what caused his own fall, he knows a thing or two about it and tries to entrap believers with it. Glory be to God and the Lamb that was slain for our redemption for by His wounds we are healed.

Needed sermon, not the leaving in the past of our sins is not having accepted the forgiveness for them and not been washed by His blood. To feel cleansed is to feel free, joyous and ready for His kingdom. Thank You Lord for not remembering our sins , their are washed, erased from the book of life and payed for the highest price that they could be payed for, the death of Your dear Son.

Fast forward to 2023. I believe this was a prophetic teaching to the church. We have to stop looking back to the way things were in America and realize God is doing a New thing...and it will be Glorious

@32:10 Talking about Exodus. I recently heard Jordan Peterson talk about this where the Israelites left Egypt and entered the desert. He equated it to our lives and the things we leave behind in order to move forward. But what does moving forward detail. A long desert before you actually get to the promised land.

What I often may possibly regret, after a closer view of those instances, it becomes more and more clearer there is no regret at all, nothing is permanent on this planet and GOD'S creation renews constantly si why waste time on regrets, ? No good reason to regret anything.

Great sermon pastor. I would just point out that the Bible nowhere says that Abram was an idol worshiper. It’s true his father Terah was, but again the Bible never says that Abram was an idol worshiper. We cannot assume that because his father was an idol worshiper that means his son would also automatically be an idol worshiper. Just as being a Christian father does not mean all my children will be Christian. Terah (also spelled Terach) was the father of Abraham, the first Patriarch of the Jewish nation. Although Terah worshipped idols and raised his family in the idolatrous city of Haran, his son Abraham independently recognized the existence of one true God, and eventually left his father’s home for the Land of Israel.
