Forget Thailand. Cambodia is THE land of smiles.

I got robbed on my two previous visits to Thailand. Cambodia has been more welcoming.

My spouse and I just got back from Cambodia.. it was our second time. We spent 3 months this visit and three months our prior visit. The country is becoming better built, roads, housing etc but it’s still very corrupt. Too much scamming, hard to communicate without friends and getting around can still be a hassle. The one thing it has going for it is the affordability and visa policy. The people are friendly to foreigners but Thailand was always better with infrastructure, communication and getting around. Prices compatible. Overall we decided to return to the Philippines.

It is almost the new year! Take a break and treat yourself to a trip to Seam Reap or Angkor Wat .I am sure all of us would enjoy seeing those areas. Please share with us your plans for the coming new year. Where will you be on New Year's Eve?

Thanks for singling out Thailand and dragging Thailand down. When Thai people promote our tourism, we mind our own business.

Int these small rural communities, where do they go for medical assistance? In parts of Vietnam, there were rural doctors that travelled on foot to treat people in isolated villages. I worked in health related fields for many years and am wondering if things have improved for those with little resources. Thanks!

Cambodia is not land of smiles, I can confirm that as a solo European traveller. I have been to Thailand and Vietnam - which are both beautiful countries full of friendly and happy people. Once I got to Cambodia I expected a similar experience, unfortunately I got harassed a few times by unpleasant men that made me feel very uncomfortable and would never go back again.

People all over the world know Thailand, the land of smiles. Even a smile Cambodia is still copying from Thailand. Cambodia Proud of having no identity of my own.
