The comparison to Power Rangers isn't entirely unfounded: Kamen Rider is a tokusatsu franchise, a genre largely dominated by Japan, examples of which also include Ultraman, _Godzilla_ (Kaiju movies are a large subgenre), and *Super Sentai* - the franchise Power Rangews gets the majority of its costumes and fight footage from.

Which makes it all the more of an "oh shit" moment when characters will straight up ignore the transformation just to throw hands

Whoever edited this together did it in the least newcomer friendly way possible

Funny you say that antagonists wait for them to henshin but later seasons actually sort of address this by either them dodging as they henshin or the henshin having attacks/protects the user as they go. (btw you should check out all kamen rider openings too. The ones from W and later get better imo)

Actually for blade you're not wrong the belt strap comes out as cards at first when it's put on but then solidifies as the belt you see. That was one of the first card based Kamen rider show .

A little (LOT OF) background: you're not wrong to compare it to power rangers as this is technically its uncle or grandfather depending on how you look at it. Kamen rider is a Japanese children's show that started in the 70s and is still going with a few failed A American adaptations and some amazon prime exclusive shows with darker themes and visuals. It was created by shotaro ishinamori, who created cyborg 009 and a few years after kamen rider would create the super sentai series (which power rangers gets it's fight footage from) as well as working on japanese spiderman with stan lee. What you just watched was the transformation from every season from 2000 to now not including sub forms, power ups, final, forms, movie exclusive forms or even other riders from said show. Each season is it's own story unless specifically stated to be a sequel like black and black rx. It usually follows the titular rider and his companions fighting an evil force with the secondary rider joining in the first 15 episodes although recently it's the been as soon as the second episode. Hopefully you do wish to look further into this but if you do don't expect the same tone as power rangers. People do die. People get hurt. You will be betrayed. If you want to know where to start I'd either suggest watching the currently airing show or go off the suit that you like best and yes kamen rider ghost did have a hoodie on.

Aw heck yeah! I consider this an awesome Christmas present! Dude you will NOT regret getting into this series just like RWBY. Fire suits, fire soundtrack, fire action, fire story, fire characters everything is FIRE 🔥. The only thing you might not like at first is the special affects which do get better when it comes to the more recent ones but are a bit of an eyesore when watching the earlier series.

whoever requested that video didn't do justice for the henshin scene... they could've put a better video with just one main rider transformation scene in chronological order... there's also forms for each rider, but i guess that compilation video decent enough for short and entertaining

Just to give ya heads up for next time should you wanna continue to see these. Make sure to find the ones that are most recent, cause they do get updated, just not by the same channel and such. Especially since some of these are outdated by others. Hope you continue to see more of it, cause Kamen Rider is amazing.

so to put things simple: Kamen Rider exists since 1971 and is like Power Rangers but with only 1 hero (at least in the early seasons bc the 2020 one with a sword has 10 EXTRA RIDERS IN HIS SHOW) who rides a motorcycle (which is also more seen in early ones bc a recent japanese traffic law doesn't accept custom bikes on roads) and transform with a belt (again this appears more in early seasons as Riders nowadays transform even with a gun lmao) the seasons are split into eras according to which period they air in Japan: Showa (1971-1989, but 3 movies from the 90s are considered Showa too), the Heisei Era (2000- April 2019) which for some reason these Henshin compilation videos prefer to start with instead of the using the very first KR show, and the Reiwa Era (May 2019-current)

If you wanna see one of these but as an anime, W - "Cyclone Joker" - has an anime that, while post series, is designed for people to just jump in with it first. Fuuto PI. 12 eps atm.

Just in case you're wondering, the villains do sometimes attack the riders while they are transforming but in most cases the energy or armor appearing will push them back or protect the rider

If you plan on watching kamen rider then you can watch any season you want. Generally they don't really have any connections to each other but the anniversary riders make a ton of references to previous seasons so i don't recommend those. The best seasons with an overall good story are build, forze, gaim, OOO, and drive. If you feel like you can't handle the campy nature of the live action then you can start with the W anime that came out.

Absolutely check out more Kamen Rider material. It’s an amazing franchise and without we never would have gotten Power Rangers here in the states since the creator of Kamen Rider also made Super Sentai which is where we get all the fighting footage for Power Rangers from. I’d recommend checking out a better formatted video since the way the video you reacted to was edited made it hard to follow even for fans who have seen the seasons that the clips were from.

Kamen rider is fun. Silly, weird, but FUN. They even manage to do some really heart felt and exciting stories to boot. I won't sit here and say "watch all the series" but if you ever want to check out more stuff there is a lot to enjoy, even if only stuff like the fights scenes, theme songs, toys, or a specific series that might interest you. It's a crazy franchise with a lot of different stuff to enjoy.

Watching somebody experience Kamen Rider for the first time with THIS MUCH Kamen Rider at once is crazy... I eased myself into it with one or two series and it was only up to Wizard by that point, now the henshin sequences are sooo extra and over the top... It truly is sensory overload. 🤣

Kamen Rider is fire. You can watch the first two episodes of most episodes for free om KZread with official english subd on the Toei Tokusatsu World channel. Sadly the obly way you can watch the full season is either by pirating it or hoping ShoutFactory has released a blu ray dvd in the states. Which as of now only Zero One has that luxury. Although Kuuga and the OG Kamen Rider from the 70s is on their streaming service and they do plan on releasing them eventually.

You see, if Power Ranger suits emphasized on uniformity, then Kamen Rider is a blend of both the individuality of its users and the uniformity of the series' respective motifs and themes. Most Kamen Rider suits are largely different from one another, with few similarities such as the frequent use of transformation belts and suit archetypes that reoccurs in its series. That being said, I'd suggest you to google "Kamen Rider Detail of Heroes" That's basically your one-stop Kamen Rider fashion magazine. Believe me, you can't help but appreciate the details put on its suits, as the title implies. Also in terms of its stories, Kamen Rider series is usually more daring and dauntless in handling its rather mature themes for a kids show, possibly more than Power Rangers nowadays could ever hope to do on its own. It just has this own flavor that might hook you into the franchise, so I suggest you to check them out some time later! Oh, and it's also Power Rangers, but on steroids lol 😂🤣

See, Mighty Morphin was the first version of Power Rangers for us (technically speaking, they were actually the second because of Dynaman, which was scrapped in Japan). Zeo was the second (technically 4th, since Season 2 had the White Ranger of 17th season and the Season 3 had the Alien Rangers of the 18th). In Super SentaI, the Zyuranger (where Mighty Morphin is from) was the 16th. I believe the White Ranger was from the 17th version, Dairanger (played by a kid, who will be the inspiration for the Blue Turbo Ranger in Turbo Rangers, which is adapted from the 20th), they had edit around a lot of footage to connect the ranger with the Mighty Morphin crew. Then, Ohranger (which is Zeo) was the 19th.

Power Ranger came from Sentai. Kamen Rider was another Toku show from Japan. Check out Ultraman transformations too!

Kamen rider W (double) is my favorite of the series. It's a Detective story and his gimmick is he's a 2 in 1 rider meaning the 2 main characters share a belt and when transformed one falls asleep and their spirit enters the suit while the other physically transforms and both control the body. I believe but can't remember if they say it in the show that they control 1 half of the body each

Ex-aid (the guy with the level up) needs to open in order to level up to his level 2, though level 2 is used more during his battle, but level 1 is used when he needs to deal with monster in giant size. ReVice (the guy with the stamp) breathes into his stamp because he is getting hot and ready for battle.
