Poor Chris had good ideas for his blade then all of them failed. Under those circumstances having something testable is kind of impressive.

The cable. Start with the cable, which already makes an impressive metalwork, then do folds with a second metal and a pattern. The combination would be something to see.

silly question: any blade you want, as long as it's 12-18 inches. since we know there will be chopping, why not do a bearded or Japanese axe? they have long blade faces that qualify and everyone always does knives. why not just change the blade type? everyone assumed "knife". They said "any" blade.

Not to take anything from the winner🎉 but Grant, helluva job! I cannot remember a final that came so evenly matched from artistry and fit n finish. If I could offer anyone advice for competion....don't use cacabola. It is pretty, but not resiliant enough to handle shock. Its too brittle and cracks too easily.

He did an absolutely awesome job! Blades were pretty neck and neck all the way thru but I think my dimensions on the handle were a bit more accurate

Either the tempering oven (...which I didn't see very well) or thermocycling by hand. Those are what I've mostly seen already.

Done off screen there’s nothing to show for it they just sit in an oven for two hours nothing exciting

Normally I am completely against finslists testing their weapons at home, goes wrong way too often, but had he not tested it he could've killed Doug.

They wouldn't have tested it. I'm certain the producers check every blade before testing to ensure something like this doesn't happen during production. The judges picking up a blade and pretending to notice an issue is largely for show.

I know people have a problem with the test and yes the testvare unconventional but in reality all historical blades blades or just blades in general are made unconventionally however in my eyes which everyone has an opinion a blade that breaks is worse than a blade that doesn't. And the first blades, all except one had cracks and real bad craftsmanship even though they were restrained on time.

is this filmed out of order or something? because grant has his wrist bandage during the first challenge but not during the first part of his final sword build

As you can see the place where he has the bandage ain't covering the cut. You can see it in 37:55 and when he shows the hand. So i thought maybe he had a tatoo that couldn't be shown on TV or maybe to stabilize another injury or something. But then he wasn't using it in his home forge so mysterious indeed.
