Hey man, love your covers! I'm looking at recording some of my own drums, and was wondering what your setup looks like. Do you record each mic on its own track, or do you mix them together first? It seems easier to add effects with some sort of multi-track firewire recorder, but those are very expensive compared to your average 8 channel mixer with a 2 channel stereo USB output. Just wondering how you go about that because your drums (and your playing) sound amazing! Keep up the good work!

InsaneSteve Hey Steve, so sorry for the late reply. By this time you might have figured things out for yourself, but I thought I would just go ahead and talk a little but about how I record things. First of all, I use a big Onyx mixer board that runs via Firewire into my Macbook pro. You don't need a mixing board though. In fact, I would recommend you actually buy just a mic interface like this one! (www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/FireStuProj) I do all of the real "mixing" on the computer anyways, so I only use a board because it's what I have. Also, I do record each track separately so I can make changes to that particular drum. I mix a snare drum differently than I mix my kick drum and so on. I record on Garageband, but if you don't have a Mac, that mic interface I suggested for you comes with some recording software too! Please let me know if you have any other questions!
