Forest Road Truck Camping

Ойын-сауық

I'm dispersed truck shell camping in Linville Gorge Wilderness located within Pisgah National Forest. I will show you around my camp and take you on a hike with great scenery. Don't let my friend Zoe fool you - she is spoiled but had to sit this one out.

Nice place to camp . I also truck cap camp and your idea of the wooden gate on your other videos inspired me to make one. I also added a diesel heater. I then upgrades my battery. I also added a a/c and a wen generator. I haven’t used them camping yet. Thank you very much for the ideas. I also use an instant up tent like yours but mine is screened in for bugs so I can cook in peace. I added it before I found your channel along with a similar shower tent. I use a 12 v pump. Nice to see others camp like this.

Sounds like a nice set up. I agree with the screen. I have a screen I will hang up when the bugs get bad. Yes I think it's a great way to camp too! Thanks!

About that time of year again. A few years ago I camped on the river on Conley Cove Trail. That is a legit hike if you are carrying any weight. Beautiful on the river.

You should! You already have a good set up while your working but the truck shell is a quick, cheap, easy way to get out there and enjoy! Thanks!

Well I missed you by a few days. I was at Linville Gorge last week, my wife and I kept a look out for your truck. We saw a few small cars on that road too, we also heard them bottoming out on those rough areas, it was cringe worthy. The weather was awesome there as usual. I am back in my hot, humid, jungle like weather of South Georgia now. Can't wait for those cooler temps to get here. Thanks for the video.

Sorry I missed you. The road was pretty bad in places. I actually seen the nice Mustang when I left even further up the road. Maybe I'll see you next time. Thanks!

I really enjoyed this. You inspired me to do this -- camp in a state forest. The state campgrounds are full, so I am going to get creative over Columbus Day weekend.

Have you ever thought about building a small simple camping trailer? You seem to be full of great ideas would make for great series.

Not a bad idea! I have a small pull behind camper but the truck shell is so much easier in many ways. The truck shell has about everything as the pull behind in a very small space except for additional sleeping. It works out good for me since I don't want to hang out inside the camper anyway. Thanks!

Yes, it’s the preferred time of year for camping in my opinion. I’ll take the cooler temps instead of the bugs every time! Do you have a link for that canopy? It would work with my set up even in the rain as I’ve done away with the lift gate and tailgate and extended the cap out to enable me to have a walk in door. Looks like that canopy would go right over mine. Poor Zoe getting left behind. My little guy always comes along - wouldn’t be that same without him. Thanks for the upload! 👍🏻

Don't let Zoe fool you - she is spoiled! The pop up canopy is a cheap Dick's Sporting Goods brand. I don't like this style when it rains because the water will drain back on the shell and make a mess getting in and out. I have that free standing flat tarp canopy I made for when it rains . kzread.info/dash/bejne/oG1okrKFeKrIcps.html Thanks !

It be cool to put something on the back trailor hitch like the scooter or bicycle or something or get one of the ebikes that fold up , that be cool , Like a dual sport motorcyle adventure bike mount on back of the trailor hitch and ride some trails while ya camping that be fun or like an adventure electric bike or even a motorized bicycle too

Are these spots free along service road? I seen them but didn't know how to "book". Didn't wanna get into trouble for something.

Yes free first come first serve spots along the road. Sometimes difficult to get to depending on the road condition.
