They deliberately show the poor parts for getting views. typical mindset. They never show the cool parts of the city.

Ur ride probably was like 17km from the airport, so ₹516 for that sounds fine. Rate usually ranges from ₹460-550 from the airport to central Kolkata. So u didnt get scammed, the driver perhaps asked a bit more based on his meter. If u had gotten a prepaid taxi or uber, it wld hv cost u a similar amount.
