I read reviews before attending the concert there in Noblesville ,IN this past Fri. nite. I have to say all 3 acts could hold their vocals....I was impressed. So, you know Foreigner was better than last year. They put it all out there. Their energy was great. Impressed with , the little bass player, he was all over that stage. Anyway, I was entertained. Glad I went. John Waite held his vocals....Thanks for coming. Now Styx was great...to me they are more theatrical. My first time seeing them. Im 66 and have found the fountain of youth........attend at least 1 concert a yr. 3 would be better...LOL Oh, lastly all drummers were excellent. I must say we old timers still have it together.....LOL

@@hooterville1863 Feel better now? Lol. First of all, not a boomer, so you were off to a bad start right out of the shoot with your lame, tired, and misdirected insult. Second, I was just having a fun play on the percentage of these acts that are genuine in respect to who wrote and played on the most well-known songs that fans love and which are the real crowd-pleasers at every show. How much ownership does "Foreigner" have in those songs? None. They just play them. I've seen this version of Foreigner and they really were fantastic, but there are no members left on stage who actually recorded the music. I saw Journey with Arnel and they were also great, but only a percentage of the creators of their most well-known songs remain. The current version of Styx was one of the best concerts I ever attended, but some will disparage it because of no Dennis. Also, never heard of Nightwish, so whatever. Just calm down and try not to react so harshly next time.

Well you could make a case that the group name is a business and the members are owners and just because there's not an original owner doesn't mean the business can't continue and succeed. Now if we're talking like a member who is iconic that is no longer involved that's different. But groups have fired their front men or lead guitar and carried on just as well. Lou Gramm was great but Kelly is really good too. Mick Jones wasn't doing much in the last tours, so I'm ok for this band carrying on without them.

@@danbazan1691 ..no Lou can't sing on pitch and key anymore. It's obvious to me. I'm a singer of 50 years and I can tell. Kelly Hanson at this point has a stronger and more precise voice. He even sounds like Lou. Age can be a factor but misusing and abusing your voice is more the culprit. Singing over your level, smoking, drinking, drugs, dry throat, too much singing... These are all factors in killing your voice. I am now going on 74 and I can sing better now than in my twenties. Why because I've learned how to do it better and constantly tried to improve which is what all musicians and singers should be trying to do all their lives. Take good care of your voice. Don't try to sing what you can't really sing. Choose keys and notes carefully and practice a lot.

Kelly is one of the few rock singers who delivers flawless performances. I've never heard him slip out of key or miss nuances. That said, I believe you were trying to convey that the original is irreplaceable, and I agree with you for the most part. Certain singers have a unique timbre that sets them apart. Lou, in his prime, was an excellent singer, and I too loved him, but that is no longer the case. If you were to see Foreigner with him on vocals now, I believe you would be disappointed. What Kelly has done for a band that was no more is actually quite incredible. The arrangements are more energetic, and his showmanship has given the band new life. However, I must agree with others on this forum that paying a premium to hear a cover band is unreasonable. Nonetheless, Kelly is a phenomenal singer and deserves praise for his accomplishments-something you and I can't match. Those are my thoughts on the matter.
