Foreigner - Cold As Ice (Live At The Rainbow '78)

Музыка

'Cold As Ice' taken from 'Foreigner - Live At The Rainbow '78'
Available Now: mercury-studios.lnk.to/Foreig...
Featuring the classic Foreigner line-up of Jones, Gramm, McDonald, Greenwood, Gagliardi and Elliott, this show captures the essence of a group who would go on to become one of the best-selling bands of all time.
On April 27 1978, after their self-titled debut album had spent a year in the US Top 20, rock’s conquering heroes played a sold-out show at London’s legendary music venue, the Rainbow Theatre.
Opening with 'Long, Long Way From Home', the band’s legion of fans were treated to a magnificent display of musicianship and performance, including local hit singles, 'Feels Like The First Time' and 'Cold As Ice', as well as an exclusive preview of two tracks from the upcoming ‘Double Vision’ album.
Forty years on, this definitive performance by the original band has been restored from the original film reels, remixed and remastered for this release.

Who cares about awards? Record sales were huge, arenas packed. Lou Gramm & Foreigner added a lot to the 70s and we all appreciated it.

@@concertfanatic3664 Hes not the first to replace Gramm, Im a Johnny Edwards fan (1991 UNUSUAL HEAT). Johnny , Mark Free (from King Kobra) and Kelly Hansen were the main 3 in the running to replace Lou, and the band chose Johnny Edwards, who came into the band in 1990 , while Lou was still a powerhouse singer who was in Shadow King (1991) . Hansen couldn't compete or got the job, if Lou could sing like he did before the brain tumor and surgery, he still can't touch Lou, Hansens similar to Steven Tyler , Gramm was similar to Robert Plant.

@@jordynpayne8488 Oh, Im not bagging on him, Im just telling the truth. And Lou was in his prime (25 yrs old) when Foreigner took off and was riding high, Hansen was 44 yrs old when he became the 3rd singer, Hansen is now 60yrs old and since he joined the band from the start ,the keys of the songs are lower than when Lou cowrote and sang the tunes and the tempo of the songs are slower also , than Lous prime live performances. (Easy differences to notice) This reveals part of their aging and showing the youth is long gone and has long left this tribute version of Foreigner but I never said Hansen was a bad singer. I only said he cant touch Lou plus I like Johnny Edwards better (Unusual Heat 1991) anyway, he was chosen over Kelly Hansen in 1990, when Lou left the first time. And on the live performances Edwards vocally sounded way closer to Lou than Hansen and Johnny wasn't trying to imitate Lou. So if it seems Im against Lou being replaced, no, not true. It just not the same Foreigner, that brought the fire and their last major radio hit was in 1988 remember "I dont want to live without you"? It charted at #5. A ballad Lou hated charted well on mainstream Billboard. They were reduced to Classic rock when Lou returned in "92. And Grunge/Gangsta rap took over so Mr.Moonlight up to Hansens own Foreigner recordings had not been major hits , won't get played or carried into the mainstream radio because once the musicians turn 40, its lights out. Hansen really sounded better in Hurricane his old band ,.in his prime

All time vocalist. I’ve played with tons of guys and they’d sell their soul to have this character, range and naturalness as a LV. Its just very unusual. Even among good singers, i think they’d all say he’s got serious pipes. Steve Perry, Steven Tyler, Freddie Mercury, Plant - voices you can’t train into… you might get close, but they are so natural with all the stuff

However good Foreigner were, there was no guarantee they were going to be successful. Punk, new wave, disco, the fact that Spooky Tooth and King Crimson were seen as "old wave"... When the band was an immediate smash hit, I was surprised but happy. One of the best bands in rock history.
