While converting lit/min to MLD, it should be multiplied with 24*60/10^6. You directly took 24*60 . There is a mistake in fire demand.

It is already in liter/day . And you are talking about lit/min . So basically for converting that min to day you use 24*60. But in question q is already in day. So no need of 24*60 Hope so now your doubt is clear

When calculating fire demand with empirical formulas it is required to take 2 hrs storage for Indian conditions not 24 hrs, as empirical formulas gives higher values. 57MLD is too much for fire demand. Kindly recheck. And its not MHD, its MHD of maximum day and we take 3 as peak factor for designing distribution systems, not 2.7 Thank u.

For both is last population. But in this example, you should go reverse it means that we have po and pn (=40000) and then by using 44000, we can calculate x. Finally, calculate n
