Recently rebuilt mine from a similar issue. The cap that held the piston main seal in had come loose, and there was no seal left, and a mangled chunk of steel floating around inside. Surprisingly it was still lifting the arms is that state!

Majors sure can take a flogging and still keep going. Lucky it didn't scour the ram cylinder!

There are several suppliers offering the kits on Ebay, easiest place to buy most Fordson parts.

Most tractor dealership should be able to provide a specific Fordson O ring kit or, like me, have a search on Ebay for the hydraulic seal kit and there could be some available.

Will this cover the Power Major too?, mine has the same problem with the arm's dropping.....

The O ring set I bought is universal for all Majors and the replacement of the ram and cylinder seals will be the same. The hydraulic controller may be different but the principle is the same, just identify where your relief valve is and give it a clean.

I have a mates Fordson Power Major here now with a similar problem but arms stay up fine. We test lifted an alloy V6 engine and tgat, was, OK but he says it won't lift like it used to and fails to lift bigger weights. I'll try reseating the non return valve but I'd have thought the arms would drop too but they stay up better than most tractors I've seen including my own Massey 35....any clues?

Possibly the oil pump not pushing the pressure required, its a bit of work but maybe check the filter. I have a video of that as well.

Do you have a part number for the cover plate gasket at 0:18? The old one came apart when I took the cover off and I am trying to find a replcaement. Mine has the aux control valve instead of just the plate if it make a difference.

The same gasket works for both the plate and auxiliary hydraulic control. I have never been able to find one off the shelf unfortunately so I make my own with 0.8mm gasket paper. I have another video on how I make my gaskets. Sorry I couldn't help more.

@@fixingfordsonsaustralia6632 I found an image of the gasket and have it all back together. It didnt want to lift a bush hog at first but now that its snapped cold it will lift. I am still having a problem with the arms dropping about 1 in per min. I hooked up a gauge and it will hit 2200psi before the arms hit the top and the pressure will drop to 500psi. I replaced all gaskets and oring in the valve body, pump, and piston? The guy filled it with Renew Tran/Hyd Fluid for Ford Tractos from a local farm supply store.

I have a power major t5ractor and the oil in the hydraulic case is milky looking . what would cause this to happen? thanks Doug

Moisture causes this to occur, with older cast iron machines it is very difficult to keep moisture out of the oil chambers. It's not a huge concern but worth changing out after a while.

Hey champ have you had the issue were lever doesnt go back to rest position (in the center) having issues with not being able to hold 3pt in any position, and soon as u clutch it drops .

I've never had that issue but it may be from a faulty seal not holding pressure. If the 3pl arms are moving as normal is shouldn't be a pump or hydraulic flow issue.

Wouldn't hurt to open it up and see if anything is stuck, also a chance to make sure the hydraulic pump is working and pushing oil around the system.

You will probably have a fouled seal or valve that is sticking and failing to release the oil pressure to allow the arms to drop

Saves me having to clean them again when I pull them apart and oil leaks everywhere. Most times, after I make a video I pull it apart and clean it before reassembly.
