Ford ZF5 5 speed swap in a 97 Powerstroke

I put a 5 speed in the White Trash Millionaire. The process is similar for vehicles from the 80s to the superduty.

    The relay you pulled under the steering column was your baro sensor. Aka your barometric pressure sensor. It reads the barometric pressure for the pcm to know conditions like elevation and adjusts your fuel injection for such

Also i have to fab up a crossmember cuz i cant find a 4x4 zf5 crossmember anywhere. Swap is really easy and straightforward if you have all the needed parts anyone can do it.

    @derekheavner4472

    Before you do anything, the plugin on the transmission for the reverse lights is near the top of the transmission towards the front on the drivers side. Just check and see if the plug just came unplugged. If the person who did your swap did not get a manual transmission style harness and PCM, then you will not be able to plug in the reverse lights, because the harnesses are different. If not, then whoever did your swap did it the same way i did my auto to manual swap, and hopefully I can help you understand why you don't haver reverse lights. For my auto to manual swap, I did not get a manual PCM and instead used the automatic PCM. More than likely whoever did your swap did the same thing. This means that you still have the automatic style wire harness that connects the PCM to the transmission. If you look underneath the truck where the harness is (runs down the drivers side of the frame) you will probably find that the only thing plugged in is the plug that goes to the transfer case. The transmission Range Sensor (which is only needed for the automatic transmission) will be tucked up somewhere out of the way and not attached to the manual transmission. What this is doing is fooling your trucks automatic style PCM to think it is in neutral all the time, which allows you to start and drive the vehicle and gives you smooth throttle response. However since your PCM thinks you are always in neutral, you will not have reverse lights. The best way to fix would be to get a manual transmission wire harness with a manual transmission PCM. That way, you can plug in the reverse lights and you won't have to "fool" the PCM into thinking its still an automatic that's in neutral all the time. Replacing the PCM and harness is my plan of attack, and although its pricey, it will "finish" the swap properly and the truck will operate as if it came from the factory. If you want to splice the wiring and make your own plug to tie the reverse lights into the wiring harness I'm sure its been done but unfortunately I can't give you any advice there. Hopefully that helps.
