Hi this was so helpful. My door was jammed shut and two professionals couldn't get it open. The section in the video starting at 2.30 was the answer. Thanks. One difference with mine was that the knob and the position indicator are missing. But a large screwdriver inserted where the shaft of the knob should be worked a treat.

Thanks... I changed the door handle on mine and it wouldn't open afterwards. After watching this I realised that the central locking switch was stuck due to excess pressure... Now it works again....

Deadset legend. Helped heaps thank you, i was racking my brain for ages as my door had jammed stuck after i swapped out the sliding door rollers and adjusted cable tension. I had readjusted my cable with too much tension and it wouldnt open. took off tension and hey presto!

5 years since you posted but this vid may save me lol... my van won't lock?!?!?! My actuator works but is grinding like it's trying to lock... if I turn the nob and try the central locking, sometinmes it works and sometimes it doesn't.. I have a feeling with the pressure you showed when the cable is pulling tight that this is the same as my issue with the actuator grinding... gonna try it at weekend.. cheers for the instructional vid!

My problem is that the door is locked and I can’t get to open it anymore, I can even get to take the latch off and put a new one. The whole system is shielded and I don’t have access to the screws

How do you get the lock out as the manual locking knob goes through the bodywork? Dose the knob pull off ?

Yeah just pull the black knob off. It pushes back in no problem

Thanks Robbie, you saved my day. i had a driver door lock stuck on me. problem with mine is that the latch won;t spring back into unlock position. trying to get the lock out but the keyhole won;t go through the bodywork. any tips on that?

Door needs to be open and then there are three bolts in the side of the door to undo

Hey man, I'm having trouble with the side door lock on my mk7. I accidentally clicked the lock with the door open and it stayed locked, so now I can't even close the door. Unlocking with the central locking doesn't help. What could be the problem??

Did the same thing, just opened the door handle and the lock opened. Your comment was 6 months ago so you probably worked it out by now

My problem transit Mk7 side loading door always locks by the key ( fob different work )but won't open until I've relocked and unlocked umpteen. Times before it finally opens, any ideas

Dave, did you manage to fix this? I was having the exact same problem, but now the sliding door won’t lock or unlock at all. If I manually lock it, still beeps when I lock the other doors, thinking it’s open.

@@scottburrowes7991 its the connecting contacts the 3 silver bits if someone leans on the door it opens every time, it always locks ok I think the door doesn't quite close enough, although it looks pretty closed. I will have to pack the black plastic plate with the 3 flat silver connectors out a bit somehow. If it's not opening or closing at all it might be the mechanism itself

you probably don't get just how complicated what yo're showing us about this door lock.... it's bloody complicated eh! the shit they have now though.. don't think a compter needs to be involved in a car door..... Jeez.. electric windows are bad enough.
