Ford Transit Mk6 Door Lock Removal & Replacement

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The Ford Transit Mk6 Door locks are pretty easy to remove if you know how they come out. In this video, I remove the old drivers door lock I had to drill out as I locked the keys in the van. I sourced a new lock from Ebay for £12.00 that also come with 2 keys.

Nicely done Martin! You have the wheel bearing coming up, I’ve just changed the disks on mine a learnt a couple of things doing it. The bolts on the hub turned out to be 1/2 inch, not 13mm, I realised after rounding one off. The 5 torx through the holes in the hub, hit torx bit with hammer first to seat well. To get hub out of strut, I wound a few 110mm bolts in from the rear to push it out, use high tensile bolt, I didn’t and snapped one. A better way might be to undo the torx bolts a few turns and then put a longer bolt in the 1/2 bolt hole and turn the hub so when you wind them in they push against the torx head behind. Once it starts moving the rest is easy. Hope that makes sense and helps 👍

A friend of my daughter locked the keys in her car a couple of years ago. I went to my local car service place (I'm a 20 year customer at the place) and borrowed their "burglary" tools and was able to break into the vehicle and pop the lock. Job done!. These tools are available for purchase by state licensed body and fender shops as well as repair facilities here. I wonder if Jimmy could get his hands on a set of these. They work well if you are patient and precise.
