Both have had their fare share of recalls, reliability issues and more recently a class action lawsuit. With global Shortages at play and manufacturers Sharing suppliers and components im not sure we can accept the marketing bs of “reliability” for both Toyota and Isuzu regarding their dual cab models in the future. Sure, the land cruiser utes of old have an excellent reputation for reliability, and so they should, they continue to sell a product developed decades ago at exorbitant prices on the back of “reliability”. By no means am I saying the rangers are exempt, they are far from perfect and have had a range of issues during its life cycle, but with every year these “new” products are drawing level on the “reliability” front imo.

Hi David, as explained in the video, normally the D-Max is $67,500 plus on-roads so as you say, about $73K DA. However, Isuzu currently has an offer for $64,990 DA so at the moment that’s the price, but we have to list the regular price too as there’s no guarantee how long that special price will last. @@addictedtosliding Hi Scott thanks for the reply . I can not find the low price you were able to find, and in todays current shortage environment it must have been a very short offering. This then raises another question as to the pressure Isuzu are feeling, where at present cars are pulling huge dollars why then would there be a big price cut on a special when most cars are seeing huge wait times. Demand is the most influential price controller definitely not the good hearted car maker. So was that pricing a ploy by Isuzu to limit the gap between the 20+ year old D-max and how far behind it is compared with the New Ford Ranger ?

I also think that the D-max looks way better than the Ranger. Although I'd take the Ranger. But in reality the D-max looks way better than a Ranger from most angles.

Just saw a ranger on the road, I also think the DMAX looks better, there is something plastic about the ranger.
Now run the tape measure over the chassis dimensions from cabin rearward. The Isuzu looks like it is ready to snap in half. Very light weight and thin material. Longevity question mark?

I read that the dmax used a new stronger steel for the chassis (I think it's called X5 maybe) to save weight, I was actually looking at the chassis on mine behind the cab (it's a single cab so I'm seeing an area more towards the centre of the chassis mind you) and have been suprised at how large the section of the chassis is there compared to other utes on the road
FR is famous with unreliable gear box. It's very costly to repair
$70k for a Truck that is not Full Sized...... Money is not what it used to be...... Could not imagine owning a Newer Vehicle and living on Gravel........ Guessing they develop rattles, noises, etc.. not to mention the chance of holes being knocked in the Trans and Differentials, due to thinner alloys.... ? Have Driven New Trucks, that rattle on Roadways... A Ford on Gravel would be bad, with those Aluminum Bodies, the Rear is likely all over the Road?
Mazda 3 will always rein supreme
Ranger ❤❤❤is the Ranger ❤❤
Why do reviewers continue to review two totally differently built utes… perhaps start reviewing the Ford against the VW or top spec Toyota.
My winner is ranger any day 🤗
Is this even a comparison really? Was loaned a dmax from the dealer it has nothing on the v6 ranger.

Maybe something called reliability could be a major factor if you work it hard. My money would be on the DMAX any day.

Not a fair comparison of utes the Ford is v6 and cost $90000 on road the isuzu is 3 liter turbo $72000 on road why don't you compair the ute to the Ford 2l Bi turbo then we see who the clear winners is

Ranger versus Everest
One thing on the dmax is the rims 🤮🤮 so I'm guessing the ranger has more than 15min to change the oil now lol 😆
A ranger wildtrak is $80k a dmax x terrain $65k massive price difference. why not compare the Ranger to a ram
That Isuzu felt a generation behind the previous Ranger. I was able to drive them back to back last year and I was very unimpressed with the Isuzu
What about all the transmission problems the new 10 speed are having why is no one covering them? 😂
we would go for the d max over the ford because ford has problem with engine shutting off while driving
I see that they didn't bother comparing the Hilux, the biggest seller for what reason?

A four cylinder with 3 liter displacement. Quite unusual in today's downsizing trend.
OK I'm in the UK, but I would just like to say I have recently changed from a Ford Ranger dual cab 2.2L auto Limited to a new Isuzu D-Max DL40 double cab and even with 150k miles on the clock I would still prefer the old Ford Ranger, it seems like the Isuzu is built to a price point and therefore all the gizmo's are cheap and lack sophistication, the touch control info screen is completely non intuitive to use, and don't get me started on those stupid and dangerous assisted driving controls - they should be banned!
Yeh but how do they compare to a Lada Niva, that's the real question
If I spent the 13k difference i could make the dmax way better then the ford 😂
