Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

For those wondering how reliable they are. I had a 2016 PXII Wildtrak for 2.5 years, put 90 000km on it over that time, used it as a daily, camping trips, towing car trailers, off road trips all while completely standard, even standard road tyres. The only issue I had over my entire time of owning it was I had a loose parking sensor on the genuine Ford bullbar which was tightened and it was good to go. Other than that, not an issue. Left it standard and unmodified, serviced it every 15000km, made sure I did a DPF regen once or twice a month by dropping down a gear up the freeway, as per the operator manual. I got rid of it because, it’s not very quick (particularly going from 90-140kph when over taking trucks so was a bit boring) and I thought it was a bit overkill to have a 4x4 vehicle with a 3.5t towing capacity to go to an office job. So I got a focus wagon which is way more fun and way cheaper to own.

@@hedydd2 Sorry I didn't see your comment before. I got rid of the car at 105 000km and 4 years old. No damaged springs, however, on corrugations at the entry roads to Steep Point in WA I did feel like I was at the limit of what the standard shocks were capable of because I could smell how hot they were getting. I don't think I ever loaded it up to its full 975kg capacity though, it's a fair whack of weight. But I did have the tray completely full for camping. I did use it for towing to its capacity, I had a 60 series land cruiser on a car trailer behind it once. (The mechanics where we dropping it off were joking that it's usually the Toyota towing the Ford and not the other way around) Car was completely standard. I think that's the key for them not going to shit. I could smell I got 9-10L/100km at 38psi tyre pressures most of its life, then I got an EGR chemical clean by my Ford dealer at 85 000km and both the throttle response and fuel economy improved. It was giving me a real 8.5L/100km. I got a lot of unsolicited compliments on the car from boomers and bogans alike. Not so much from the focus though... haha Overall a great car, handled better than it should have (and its competitors), more comfortable than it should have been (even compared to a Falcon Wagon) and used surprisingly little fuel but overall, an expensive exercise to use as a daily driver if your only payload is a laptop bag and a sandwich.

Your insight technical explanations are a real boon and informative!! I liked the one of the different headlight comparisons between halogen, LED and laser lights. Your unbiased overall inputs and remarks are useful in the deciding factor when looking for a new vehicle! Love your show!

I got my px2 XLT new back in 2017. I usually turn my vehicles over every 3 years but this one I have kept and still own. Still great to drive and the only drama I have had has been an egt sensor and the intercooler hose which are common but an easy and cheap fix (especially if under warranty). Everything just works well on it and I can sit in it all day if I have to. The only reason I will get rid of it is to buy the new one when it comes out. Great reviews but there are a few things I would love to see. Towing or load test on these wagons or utes and talk about the GVM and GCM. Would also love to see some more attention to the special features of the cars e.g. Kia self parking etc. Still the best reviews on youtube!!!

I have a MY19 3.2 Wildtrak which I really enjoy but have a couple of faults. With just 20,000kms, the drivers seat base cover kept coming unclipped at the front which, after dozens of times of being reclipped back in place, the flimsy plastic eventually wears out and requires a replacement seat cover. At 30,000kms, the replacement cover was provided by my Ford dealer 3 months ago but within a couple of weeks the new seat cover started to do exactly the same. Took it back to the dealer who advised that I wasn't the first with this problem which appears to only affect vehicles fitted with an electric drivers seat. The up and down height adjustment seems to over tension the front of the seat base, causing the cover to unclip when someone sits in the seat. However, the dealer did nothing more than to reclip the cover back in place without actually investigating the cause of the fault. As soon as I sat back in the seat the cover unclipped itself again before I'd even left the dealer. I went back in and was told to demonstrate the cause of the fault myself and email photos to the dealer so they could forward them to Ford. I therefore had to remove the seat myself and took a few pics which I emailed to the dealer. That was over 2 weeks ago and unfortunately, I've heard nothing more. Not entirely sure why a customer has to remove parts themselves in order to demonstrate a fault on an 18 month old vehicle covered by a manufactures 5 year warranty.

Thanks for the review Paul. Loving them all, please don’t change anything. Actually, one small addition. Could you do the tops of the doors with the ‘hardness’ test. This is often an area where car makers save money, and use rock-hard door cards. Centre arm rests tend to be soft, as are many tops of dashes. Thanks! Just as aside. I have never seen much appeal with dual cabs. However, the BT50 looks pretty awesome. Never been inspired by this current gen Ranger. Kinda looks like an Ambulance in base spec.

Have they changed the rear spring rating over the 2019 model? When I test drove that model it was very unbalanced rear to front, I bought the NP300 over the XLT Ranger. It was significantly cheaper & rode much better. Plus the engine gearbox setup was better, Ranger was hunting for gears. Engine didn't feel anything better than the 2.3 NP. I'm in the market for a NEW Ute by the end of this year, so will go through the whole test drive, feature, cost comparison, process again.

It's hard to get your head around I know. There are BMW 2 litre engines getting the same kw as my 6 litre v8. How do you do that? You need massive compression by the piston. If the air/fuel mix is compressed to f##kung huge pressures you will extract more power out of each stroke. These huge pressures put massive strain on the engine components. Will they hold up like my V8 engine? You tell us Paul. Ford is deliberately not putting the 10 speed in the 3.2 so we can't get a fair comparison also.

UK ones are built in South Africa but apart from local trim choices, seem to be identical apart from UK/Europe payload being about 100kgs higher for tax reasons. The new drivetrain is a significant improvement, especially the 10 speed auto. Since the new version is also available in Australia, surely the only reason for choosing the 3.2 is if there is a very significant price advantage.

Very true! It's about $1500 cheaper to get the 3.2-litre in Australia.

One significant factor for the push of the 2.0 bi turbo over the 3.2 in the UK is the price of fuel which is double the price that we pay here in Australia which is currently the equivalent of around 56p a litre. I picked up my PX3 Ranger in August of 2018 (about a year before it was released in the UK) and had the choice of the 3.2 or the 2.0. I chose the 3.2 without any hesitation over the smaller bi turbo. Would have preferred it fitted with the 10 speed auto box but that wasn't enough for me to go down to a 2.0. Ford has obviously taken some feedback on board considering the next 2022 Raptor will now be fitted with the beefy 3.0 V6 over the current 2.0 bi turbo. That may well put off quite a few UK buyers considering the cost of fuel over there. The days of the 2.8, 3.0, 3.5, and so on, have generally been banished to motor museums in the UK.

@@xj358 The main factor for the change is that from next month the 3.2 will no longer meet emission regulations in Europe. Yes the fuel price and corporate CO2 emissions targets are other reasons why ever more efficient engines are being developed. Fact is though, the 2.0 bi-turbo outperforms the 3.2 in every way you can measure and feel. Coupled with the ten speed auto it is in a different league. I own a six speed and I've test driven a 10 speed 2.0 and there's no mistaking the very significant improvement in the drive. Have a look at this comparison if you are not convinced. kzread.info/dash/bejne/Yqukk8l_Z6e5ZNo.html

@@hedydd2 Had no idea that the 3.2 would no longer meet emission standards over there . I was over in the UK last year and noticed in the local Ford dealer that the uk Ranger was fitted with Adblue which isn't fitted to my PX3 Wildtrak here in Australia. I also noticed that things like the rear roller shutter was an optional extra instead of standard despite this being one of the things that supposedly made it a Wildtrak in the first place. Also surprised that Ford UK still only offer a 3 year 60,000 mile warranty, whilst Ford Australia offers a 5 year unlimited mileage warranty.

@@xj358 The rear roller cover was made an option because many potential buyers just don't want it or the 'sports bar'. For my part I bought a Limited rather than the Wildtrak because I couldn't get a Wildtrak without a roller top locally, but crucially, with a proper ladder rack. I carry 600 kg bags, 1000 litre IBC's, 200 litre barrels and 4ft round bales in the back on occasion and want the pickup for that kind of work. Its difficult enough reaching stuff, like alkathene pipes for cattle control or tools, over the side of the bed as it is without the hassle and time wasting of opening a cover and climbing in the bed. The vast majority of all pickups here are bought by farmers and builders for work as the first priority and social transport second. Nevertheless the Limited and Wildtrak are the best sellers in the range and I can't remember the last time I saw a Ranger single cab. A few Isuzu single cabs around though.

The 2litre feels like you are driving a soccer mums wagon whilst the 3 litre feels a bit more lumpy and sporty. I was so bored of the 2litre and couldn't wait to get my 3litre back. I enjoy driving the 3 litre too bad its going.
