Good episode. I remember doing the springs on my 68 Mustang. Would have been nice to have a hydraulic jack then.

The reason you still have leaf springs is not cost .. its load carrying capacity.. coil spring must get thicker to carry a certain load over a confined space.. leafs dont.. just look at the Corvette and the sprinter delivery y van..both have single leaf per wheel set up ..

This is not a normal ranchero. This is a falcon ranchero. My best friend growing up had the exact same car. His had a 351 weezer in it. Pretty darn quick.

I wonder why, after spending so much money in bodywork, paint, brakes, engine, etc. they didn't put an alternator instead of the original generator

Drum brakes aren’t bad, it’s the idiots who don’t know how to adjust them or fuck them up. And in fact the only downside is heat dissipation, where there are no airflow so the drum acts like a heat sink. where drum brakes have a larger surface area and can stop the vehicle much better than those discs.

Valid points.. but in heavy trucks the switch towards disks are now mandatory.. reason.. more pressure can be applied during anti lock situations keeping the unit in a straight controlled line

i had a old land cruiser with massive drum brakes and two brake cylinders per a drum. The problem was that those brake cylinders would corrode and the rubber seals would crack and leak, resulting in fluid soaked useless brake shoes. The first week driving it i came up to a highway crossing and hit the brakes ...and nothing.. i cruised across 4 lanes of highway traffic and THANKFULLY did not get hit. I had to replace ALL of the drum cylinders, 8 IN TOTAL! as well as struggle to replace 8 brake shoes. Honestly Disk brakes are so much easier to maintain and in my opinion and experience, more reliable.

Why alter what works ,shoes seem to last forever, 100k plus, disks last 60k miles at most.

I like the way that Wheeler Dealers treated Ed China like he was worth nothing to their TV show and was easily replaceable but yet they are still squeezing every minute of video they have of Ed, to promote their channel. Sorry but my viewing time is now spent on Ed's Workshop Diaries. :-)

But why? I can't get this obsession for taking back cars to their stock conditions. This car used to have a strong, sinister personality. Here is yet another showcase restoration, without a shred of soul. They should have fixed the real issues and left the aesthetics as they were
