Ford Puma is a nameplate used by various different Ford Motor Company vehicles and engines. The name was first used from 1997 to 2001 on a sport compact. The revival of the nameplate was announced at the Go Further event in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and its new usage began on a new subcompact crossover SUV model in 2019. Ford also uses the Puma name on variants of the Duratorq engine.
Ford first announced the Puma crossover at its event Go Further in Amsterdam, along with the introduction of the third-generation Kuga. The Puma nameplate was last used on the Puma sport compact. The vehicle is based on the seventh-generation Fiesta platform (Ford Global B-car platform).[4]
Production of the Puma started in Craiova, Romania (Ford Romania) in October 2019 along with the EcoSport subcompact crossover and the EcoBoost 1.0 L Fox engine used in both cars. Ford invested two hundred million euros, and employed 1,700 people on the project.[5]
The Puma is offered with a mild hybrid 1.0 litre EcoBoost three cylinder turbo gasoline engine with a belt driven integrated starter, which uses energy from the braking system to charge the forty eight volt lithium ion battery pack in order to increase torque and lower emissions. Power is rated at 153 bhp (155 PS), 114 kW, and 240 N⋅m (180 lb⋅ft) with an additional 50 N⋅m (37 lb⋅ft) from the integrated starter system.
Royal Garage imported Ford cars as early as May 1911. Shortly, other agencies such as Colin & Co., Leonida & Co., Noel S.A.R, and Raf S.A.R. expanded the market. Numerous political figures owned Ford cars. Among them was Ion I. C. Brătianu, whose daughter used to call her car Forduţa.[5] Ford cars were an instant success story, thus between May 1911 and November 1912, Royal Garage already sold 106 Ford cars. On December 8, 1920, Collin & Co. requested on behalf of the Ford Motor Company the permission to build an assembly plant in Romania. Unfortunately, Vintilă Brătianu, “notoriously anti-American”, rejected the proposal to the regret of the people directly involved as well as the public opinion.
In modern times the company is located in Craiova, in the former Oltcit car factory, later Daewoo Motors facility in Romania (as Daewoo Automobile Romania), which Ford acquired in 2008 from the Romanian government.
Vehicle production at the plant began in September 2009 with the Ford Transit Connect,[10] and later with the Ford B-Max. Engine production at the plant includes three- and four-cylinder versions of Ford's EcoBoost engine family. The plant has a production capacity of 300,000 units per year and it is the country's third company by value of exports.
In March 2016, it was announced that the Ford EcoSport will be built at the Craiova plant starting from the autumn of 2017, moving production for the European market from the current plant in Chennai, India. This happens on the background of the growing market for the SUV segment in Europe, and will bring an investment of €200 million to the factory.

Da weiß man gleich wohin man einen Ausflug machen kann wenn man mal ein Ersatzteil brauchen sollte 😋 Da habt ihr bei Ford echt ein tolles Auto gebaut, wenn auch in Rumänien, mein ST ist schon toll 😍
Ford is a great company but unfortunately this latest car produced has too many defects both in the assembly and in the quality of the materials. I advise you to carry out more quality checks because this car was found to have too many defects, especially the quality of the gaskets and their assembly. Another big flaw is the steering column which suffered problems after a few km. The paintwork is really low quality and easily ruined.The spaces between the various assembled parts, bonnet, door, tailgate at the back are not aligned well, the spaces between one component and another vary in height and distance.the rear shelf that rises when the bonnet is opened has major defects, the plastic supports that help raise it break in a few days.A defect / problem that appeared almost immediately concerns the creaking of the dashboard, which is constant on the motorway.Also, what negatively surprised me is the formation of condensation in the front/rear lights.I sincerely hope that you raise the level of quality and controls in the future. Every criticism and defect I point out I hope will improve production and I repeat the level of quality that has always characterized the great Ford company in the past. Regards JACK

J'ai le regret de dire que je fais le même constat. Si vous êtes attentifs vous verrez des trains roulants arrière différents. Disques deviennent des tambours...quant au montage semi-rigide, il est indigne. On demande 4 roues indépendantes et 4 freins à disque mesdames messieurs de chez Ford ! Et remettez aussi les poignées plafonnieres que vous avez également supprimées. Les économies de bout de chandelle dégradent votre image. Ajoutez aussi une clavette d'indexation sur l'arbre intermédiaire de la cascade de distribution et profitez-en pour remplacer ces courroies humides par des chaînes... Alors peut-être achèterons nous de nouveau une Ford.

I think someone paid Jack for his negative review ..... whilst I'm sure some that a few cars may experience a few of the issues he raises, most don't. One of the best selling cars for the last two years. If all the issues Jack raised were common, this certai ly would no be the case.

Finally picked up on 30th April
Great car, the only problem are the dealers. Try booking a car in for service. It took 4 months to get the engine replaced on my Kuga, then the gearbox had to be changed. All under warranty though.
Have a race red st line x from the star of production and only thing i regret its not waiting for the st green venon...

Chip shortage My mother ordered a New KIA Sorento Hybrid back in August for the new year the dealer rang her before Christmas saying that they couldn't get the colour she ordered White they said they had one car available in the country and it was black so if she wanted it she can take so she said she'd think about it About a week later she rang 7 different kia dealers asking if they could get a White Sorento and how long it would take they all said the same thing. It would be the end of April at least before they could get one so she just gave in and took the black one and she collected it last week

Ford puma makes me want to wear my puma clothes and drive this
I like the look of the Puma's. However as with a couple of other Ford models, I don't like those electronic dial shifters for the transmission. In that respect I think technology has gone a step too far. Good cars otherwise. Are the Australian market Puma's built in Romania as well?

Ford könnte doch mal seinen Mitarbeitern in der Produktion eine einheitliche Note geben. Das heisst: Kleidung. Da läuft doch jeder in dem Video herum wie er lustig ist.

Ordered in November, it has been built and now waiting for the delivery probably early march. My dealer suggested that the more equipped the more time i would probably have to wait. So i didn't add practically anything to my st line

Io a Roma la sto aspettando da inizio Settembre! Mi hanno chiamato scusandosi dei ritardi ma è un problema della produzione, mi hanno detto che entro la prima 15ina di Gennaio la ford gli avrebbe mandato il calendario di produzione e che la mia macchina sarebbe stata in consegna per Febbraio. 6 mesi di attesa manco fosse una lambo :)

@@toppersgarage6770 Si a me dissero entro fine novembre, poi chiamai e mi dissero inizio dicembre, poi ancora mi dissero entro natale e il 30 dicembre mi hanno richiamato loro dicendomi che QUASI sicuramente entrava in produzione a gennaio e consegnavano a febbraio ma che ford ancora non gli aveva dato il calendario della produzione quindi non erano sicuri...come minimo dovrebbero darci un bonus per qualcosa dato questi ritardi!
In the meantime the number of unsold cars left in parking lots increased enormously, not to brag that the cheapest Fiesta had 4 cylinders...

Ci sono Puma che si non si avviano perché la batteria si scarica anche dopo pochi mesi. Ad alcuni hanno montato al posto della ROMBAT 60ah la batteria VARTA di qualità superiore.Devono capire perché la batteria muore improvvisamente, capire perché non si ricarica. Non è cambiando la batteria che si risolve il problema. Va migliorato il piantone dello sterzo. Da sistemare il software e l elettronica. La Puma piace e ha del potenziale,ma costa troppo per la qualità che attualmente offre.
These are rubbish cars and unfortunately Ford’s customer service makes it a bigger rubbish. Don’t say you were not warned.
The ONLY good feature on this car is being able to switch the engine on from your phone - that’s it! Oh and the extra box in the boot….😞
