We loved having a look around this Nugget Plus. What do you guys think of this van? We know many of you already have a Nugget Plus. Did we miss anything ?

Love the Nugget Plus but I do not like an open toilet near a kitchen area and no option to put outside in a toilet tent. I would prefer a portapoti in cupboard on sliders so you can pull out at night and also place in toilet tent in the day if necessary. Great to see your van tour.

Will be collecting my Orange Glow 2022 version Nugget Plus on Wednesday 9th November, bit of a wait for it having ordered the vehicle on 4th September 2021 but it will have been worth it. The wife has already started an itinerary on when a where we are going too.

Brilliant review guys! Enjoyed that, especially the updates for the MY2021 built Nuggets. A lot of great points you make too, e.g. always being able to access to kitchen/toilet, the new interior tailgate button and the relocation of the camper control unit….I wonder if our new one will have all these? Thank you so much for creating this content. We have confirmation that our Nugget Plus has left Turkey and is now in Germany waiting for its fit. We hope to take ownership Jan/Feb 22. The overriding reason we chose the larger van was the inclusion of the loo - we are now of a certain age and these things are important, along with being able to chill the gin to the right temperature 🤗 We both can’t wait to get out and about in our van. We’ve already named it Norman after my dad. Do you know if there is a Nugget owners club? Would be good to link up with other Nugget owners. Love your vlogs, please keep doing them. ❤️

Regarding the nugget owners club: So far we have come across some forums on Facebook- the ones we've seen are Ford Nugget UK and Ford Nugget Campervan Chat. We are also scoping out some things in the background- including a potential nugget meet up for next year. Something may come of that? Great review and I think the huge price difference between this and an 80 grand + (yes, really that's what they want for a Club Joker City now!) means that I'm sold on the Nugget + even though I'd prefer the 4.99m of the VW versus the 5.3 of the Ford Nugget + Thanks

The Nugget plus is amazing but we find the Nugget meets our family needs as a camper and day-to-day vehicle. If you have any questions we’d be happy to help.

Great review! We have ordered ours and are currently waiting on word of when our Nugget Plus is going to be ready but this has wetted our appetites, being complete newbies to the camper van game, we cannot wait to get out and about! (COVID permitting!!) I do have one question, who do you get your insurance through for your Nugget and roughly how much was it? Was wondering if we had to go through a specialist insurer for camper vans.

When we scoped our insurers, we found that some 'car' insurance companies didn't insure camper vans, but referred us on to more specialist camper van insurance companies. In the end though, we did get our insurance via a mainstream company. They will go through questions with you and also ask how the vehicle is worded on the V5C document. Comprehensive overview as always, thank you - good to see you both back. There have been some clever adjustments here, added to an already efficient design. The SWB suits us best, as a shorter overall length is a key requirement, especially when parking for an everyday vehicle, as well as travelling away. With only two of us the stored toilet works very well, day or night, I’m not sure I’d like to see it all the time in the kitchen - as in the Plus. A UK Nugget Club sounds a great idea.

Brilliant walk round review, really interesting. In our California we use the rear space behind our bench seat for storing a mattress topper, duvet etc. In your Nugget where do you keep those when travelling around? I really like the rear kitchen idea but just wondered how it works practically day-to-day ? Keep up the great vids!

Thanks so much. We've only recently found your channel- love looking around different vans. Great to see variety and different ways of doing things. Enjoying looking through your vlogs. Regarding duvet etc. There is room behind the bench seat- under the kitchen sink . We tend to use the space under the bench seat to store our bedding if on the move. We don't use any topper, just a mattress protector and the night owl coverless duvet. At site, when the roof is up, there's a handy little shelf just above the front seats. Great for pillows etc. The kids sleeping bags are thin enough to stay on the pop top bed, even with the roof down so that's great. Personally love the kitchen at the back- day to day, boot space is enough for us and love that I can get the kids sorted for swimming or using the toilet all from within the van- great for rainy welsh days😂. Bonus is the bench seat does come out completely, so if the van is needed for some major use, that's a good option. Appreciate layout not for everyone, but works fantastic for us 😊. We'd really love to have a proper look at a Nugget in person at some point - we've only ever seen them in videos and magazines and it's fantastic that there are some more OEM options on the market now to challenge the California. The thought of the Plus with cassette toilet and hot water is VERY appealing !

@@CampervanTime yes they are fantastic additions. We manage fine with our portable loo and hot water in sink but can definitely see the advantages of the additions. Not sure where you are based, but if logistically possible we'd happily let you have a look around our Ford Nugget. Maybe park up and swap vans for a few hours to look around and vlog :)

Interesting, turns out I have the 2021 pop top fabric with the large windows and the plastic window. On balance I think I prefer our control panel at the front so the copilot can check and/or operate stuff whilst we are travelling. What engine did they have? I believe the 185 (which I have and is brilliant) is in short supply? Great video.

Hi Richard. Love the improvements to the pop top so great you have that on your model. I have to admit, we do a lot on our control panel from the front- or reach out to turn the heating on from bed 😂. But the new one did look super modern and we will do a separate vlog on that new control panel sometime in the near future. Probably early 2022 now. I would love to say that I know what engine they had, but in all honestly it was all hands on deck getting the filming done in the short window we had while the kids were at school so we forgot to ask. Apologies ☺️.

Hi Paul. We go through the shower we have in our Nugget on our channel: episode 9 of the ‘exploring the nugget’ playlist (in-depth water system review). Hopefully you’ll find that useful. Unfortunately we don’t have the tailgate tent ( it is an extra) and we have asked to borrow one from Ford dealers for us to show on the vlog. To date we haven’t managed to source one, but if and when we do, we’ll be sure to do a vlog on it. Thanks for watching

Great video. If this was your only vehicle, how well does it serve as a daily driver? Is a bit big and unwieldy to use day-to-day when not camping or does it work well?

Hi Simon. We drive a Nugget (SWB) not a Nugget Plus as our daily drive, but in reality I'm not sure the LWB would affect our view much. For us it works really well- we can fit in car parks and in the local multi-storey. However, to drive a camper as a daily drive will completely depend on your situation. We live quite rural so do not need to contend with city centre parking. This would be a huge issue for some I am sure. In terms of space etc- I find myself asking why we didn't do this earlier because it really works well as a day van and is an asset for those cold wintery after school activities!

Hi Glenn. Thanks for watching. The pop top bed is designed to take two adults- and is a very comfortable sleep at that. You will see the question on weight limit comes up in the comments section of Episode 7 hints and tips playlist (tips and hacks 6 months in). A subscriber kindly comments that the handbook specifies the roof bed having a maximum load-bearing capacity of 250kg. Can't put my hand on the handbook right now but that matches what I thought from memory. Hope that helps

I didn’t expect to hear that you had sold your van but I can understand why you would prefer the longer van. The Cali Camper Family have also taken delivery of their new Nugget Plus with the high top. We have just sold our Wellhouse Ford Custom SWB conversion and we are buying a Devon high top MWB (5.4m) Citroen Relay conversion. We thought our Ford Transit was perfect but after using it a few times we decided a high top with a bathroom was a better option for us. I think you can do all the research in the world but until you actually use the van you don’t really know how well it will work for you. I’m looking forward to hearing more about your new van, will it be another Silver Nugget? Thanks for sharing.

I did go onto say that we hadn’t really sold it but maybe you missed that. Agree that until you’ve had a van its hard to know what suits but we still absolutely love ours. Hi Adam. In the UK this van is sold via Ford as is- Westfalia do the conversion. Not heard that the units are sold separately sorry. Someone else may have more info on this so hopefully will comment or there are some forums on Facebook you could try. Sorry we couldn't help.

Is there a heater built in that can run from the electrics if it gets cold?

Hi Gaz. There is a diesel heater, not a built in electric one. It works great, can pre-set it overnights etc. I guess you could purchase an electric one and plug in, but this isn't something we've needed to look into. Hope that helps.

I thought the nugget plus was a high top hard top I guess that must’ve be outside the uk only :(

Hi Maff. We can't get the high top hard top in the UK at the moment. Just the SWB Nugget and LWB Nugget Plus - both pop top. Other models are making their way to the UK, but not the high top hard top yet as far as we know.
