Ford Mustang Bullitt | Last of the V8? | Full review

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Ford makes the best Hero cars and the Mustang is no different, the Bullitt edition is based on the movie car that was driven by Steve McQueen. Has it really anything left to offer?

That symphony is from a real living breathing proper engine which any age child myself included (70yo) would do exactly the same as Bob just play with and have a permanently fixed joker like smile, it’s not about need or practicality it’s just pure joy and happiness. Electric hum with fake soundtrack through the sound system, shove it.

I agree, replace the Bullitt badges on the wheel and boot with the Mustang ones, much cooler look then !!! Also, if it only just had a proper Liftback / Hatchback, then it would be practical and beautiful too. Then I’d consider one as an everyday driver, but I’d buy second hand after a couple of years and save a fortune on list price. And that saving could go on petrol win-win Thanx Bob ☘️

OMG, 2k euros per YEAR in tax? That is insane. I pay like $1500 / year on my HOUSE here in Kentucky and I once thought that was nuts. Yikes. We pay maybe $250 / year to renew license plates on a car like that. A cheap used car is more like $30 / year. Insurance can be expensive here though.

To get a Mustang insured in Ireland could cost several thousand dollars a year. A person who is in their twenties might not even be able to get an insurance company to cover them as they may all refuse. Just to get a standard 4 cylinder diesel car insured in Ireland could cost about $1000 per year. Count yourself lucky that you live in the best country in the world. Houses are about 4 times more expensive in Ireland as in the US. Clothing is about 4 times more expensive and a tv is about twice as expensive. Ireland is an expensive country because it is a welfare state and taxes are through the roof.

With a car like this, the sound of the engine responding to the throttle, makes us Neanderthals compared to the lofty woosh of an electric car. And men are, some more than others, Neanderthals at heart. That makes this so hard to pass up on, say goodbye to or ignore altogether... the fire in the belly of the beast, the raw emotion of discovery of fire, and then containing it yet with all the dangers. It is so much more primal than electric cars. I love my hybrid diesel exactly for this reason: it combines modern times with the rumble of series of small explosions. Thanks for the smile on my face!

The irony is the government push towards electric cars and renewable will destroy the environment. At some point environmentalists are going to want to ban electric cars as they are bad for the environment and when the achieve that they will want to then ban electricity. You may think I am joking but this is exactly where it is all going and environmentalists already know all of this. If you listen to academic environmentalists they will not hide their opinion on this.

@@bighands69 This is not limited to electric cars. Even though I understand and feel the luring qualities of electric cars, I know from personal experience, I agree there is a moment where the technique crosses a tilting point from novelty to mainstream, where we can no longer ignore the mounting waste of used batteries. It already is a problem throughout the lifecycle of portables and wearables. The speed in which electirc vehicles are being adopted. the problem seems to already run away from us there too. We are in the same deliberate ignorant state as we are with nuclear power, and that in turn comes form our inability to actually take ownership of the entire value chain and design and adhere to a cradle to cradle process. Instead we all skim the quick profit and leave the residual effects for either our neighbors or the next generation.

@@jwvandegronden The biggest problem facing electric cars is not battery technology it is the use of copper. There simply is not enough copper on planet earth to have every car as electric. To give you an idea of the scale there is not enough copper to have every car in America electric never mind the world. There is not even enough copper on earth to have renewable energy. Each wind turbine can take 2 to 10 tons of copper. Western Governments have decided to base all economic planning on electric cars without actually figuring out if it is technically capable to achieve.

The 1998 movie Ronin starting Robert De Niro has the best car chase without the use of CGI. You can search KZread for a 7 minute clip. Much better than 1968 Bullitt car chase.

@niacal4ni The Bullitt car chase was performed by Steve McQueen himself as the was an expert stunt driver and race car driver. Most of what you see in Bullitt are single take shots and real engine performance noises. Ronin was not real sound and had modified sound and takes. The Ronin car chase is cool but not a patch on Bullit.

Green plants breathe CO2, dude. You mean, there isn't much future for cars that are great for the environment, but bad for ultra selfish humans trying to wreck the green environment to stay cooler on the cheap.
