Ford Mondeo Mk3, Rear Wheel Bearing.... I cant hear nothing !!
The owner of the vehicle heard something but was oblivious to the seriousness of how bad his wheel bearing was.
A really badly worn out rear wheel bearing, the wheel was not too far from becoming separated from the car...i failed this wheel bearing on an mot test and then show how i changed it.

    Easiest way I have found is to use an angle grinder and just cut out a big section of the hub around the access hole. This lets you get the torx bit in much closer and less chance of wrecking the head

    It's not really the bolts that hold it per-se. They generate the clamping force between the two metal components and the coefficient of friction applied on those surfaces due to the clamping force holds it all together.

  • @Cedo86

    @Cedo86

    Жыл бұрын

    @@tiredhub3270 They don't carry that weight, you can see that the bearing goes into the housing, bolts are there just to secure it doesn't come off, same thing with a wheel which goes onto the hub, it's not held by the nuts strictly speaking, that's why central bore of the wheel must match hub lip diameter.

    Okay, I admit that the sound was quite bad. However - to be fair to the owner - I have to say that my MK3 from 2005 had a lot of noise from the wheels, probably because that particular model doesn´t have a lot of noise insulation. Sometimes I was also in doubt if the wheel bearings were bad on my car - simply because I wouldn´t have expected so much wheel noise from a mid-size car from 2005

  • @thegearknob7161
    @thegearknob71614 жыл бұрын

    Someone has had that brake disc off before. There should be a couple of those washers that bite into the wheel studs to hold the disc in place. It's why you didn't have to beat the disc senseless in order to get it off. Also NEVER do up steel wheel nuts with an air gun. If you get a flat tyre and need to change it with just a small wheel brace, you'll never be able to get them off. I hate it whenever I get new tyres and they do that.
