Ford Model T rear axle disassembly

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video I examine why I have more than 3mm of axle movement at the wheels, following the discovery that my hubs had been eating into the brake hardware, and only noticed because I had both wheels off the ground. The intent is to check the condition of internal components and assess whether a rebuild is required.

Absolutely no excuse for the previous mechanic to cut such corners as not to add coter pins. Such a cheap way to insure not only the safety of the vehicle but of the passengers as well. Many mechanics have turned a wrench on our cars in the 100 or so years they have been around. Some good and some not so much. Glad you discovered this before it lead to something bad. Beautiful car by the way! I am taking a break watching your video while working on my 26 Tudor..looking forward to more videos. Stay safe Eric

What was worse was the removal of both shims and one shim plate. Terrible!

Excellent video - I’m watching them all with great interest. I have a Canadian-build 1920 Model T and while I think my rear axle is OK, my crankshaft broke and it’s an engine-out re-build. Cheers from Canada! Pete
