Paul I worked in a ford truck junkyard and you always knew when the engine was bad !!!!! when you looked and it had a new solenoid! even if the engine smoked badly !!!!

Tell Paul in Hawaii to look up locks stitching. Permanent excellent fix.

The canned ham container was state of the art back in the 60's for rear main over enthusiastic oil loss. Some guys could get a whole week without a drain. No really!

💕💗 you’re so awesome!

Thank you for bringing up my question about the wobble. The issue is now resolved. You were right on with the radius ball. (A helpful Simi Valley Model A's member pointed this out right before you published this video, but you nailed it without even looking at it.) A prior owner installed the rubber ball and larger housing, but the rubber ball had disintegrated and was floating in the larger housing. Sammie Guthrie recommended going back to the stock configuration, since the ball was in perfect shape. This resolved the main problem causing the wobble. The other issue was that the front drums were out of round. I think this triggered the oscillation, and the loose radius ball allowed it to keep oscillating. I just had the drums turned and now that both issues are fixed, it drives and stops like a dream. Thanks again for addressing my question. You guys have been very helpful to me and I appreciate your help. You're truly an asset to this community. I hope we can meet up sometime so I can buy you some ice cream!

Great job! You two sure enjoy your work! Someone asked what you used for a seat in your mail truck. I got a tudor seat from bert's, we reupholstered it, and installed it through the floor board. Much better than the lawn chair we were using.😃

The last set of Firestone's I purchased were 16" bias ply in 1961. They were worn out in 5000 miles. My Dad gave me a fit because he thought I was hot rodding the car until I pointed out that all 4 were worn the same. That was the last set of Firestones either one of us bought. Justified?

I've also noticed that Goodyears wear much longer than Firestones. Another thing is that the Goodyears fit into the tire wheel wells easier than the Firestones.

I have a 1930 plymouth sedan;; it has 8 bolt pattern spoked wheels on it now;;; i want to convert it to wire wheels how is this done;;; i would like to use the modern vintage wire wheels they are 5 bolt pattern;;;

More of a question than a comment. I have searched to find the process to convert from Babbitt to insert bearings and all I come up with is “how to pour Babbitt.” Any ideas as where to search?

You nee the block to be machined for insert bearings and thrust bearing. It is not a user serviceable item. It's major machine work and redoing a lot inside the motor.

Hi. I got a 29 Tudor and I would really like to upgrade the steering box to something more modern as the original is completely worn out. I could probably restore it, but it would be at a great cost and parts are hard to come by in my end of the world, besides it will take some machining I don't have the machines to do. Do you have any suggestions for something that will work or any advice on what to look for in a steering box to replace the original? I'm very reluctant to do any permanent modifications, cutting, etc. After all, I am only a custodian of this car. If the next custodian after me wants to put it back to the original condition I want to leave that option open.

My suggestion is if you don’t belong to a Model A club yet, join one, everyone is very helpful and some have full shops with lots of machinery. Not sure where you live but start with MAFCA.com and look at their local clubs page and put in your area that you live and it will show you clubs around you. I hope this helps, take care! 💕

@@Modeltshinn thank you for answering. I live in Denmark, Scandinavia. We have a very good Model A club here in Denmark, but it is a $100 roundtrip for me to visit the club. So tho I'm a member, I have actually never visited the club. I tried to replace the sector shaft and bushings last year, but the stub axle in the bottom has about 1/16" play in a new bushing. Surprisingly the worm doesn't bind in the ends. To fix the axle I would have to turn it down and shrink a hardened bushing on. I have the skills to do it, but not the machinery.

@@Zigge yes that’s a bit of money to travel…well if you can save up and if the club is willing to have a work shop/tech seminar using you vehicle then making one trip and visiting fun people while your at it might be really nice! Talk to them and see. Other than that, maybe @paulshinn has another idea?

Paul says, go to DMV and then do what they say…they give instructions for what to do. It may be different in different states.
