The roll was done in way too high of a gear for the Ford GT. It has extremely long gears and goes 67 mph in 1st gear. 136 mph in 3rd gear vs the Vipers 114 mph.

Yes, 2-3 shift is a nightmare in those cars especially if the mounts are sloppy and the syncrhos are not happy.@@bwthomas84

@@samw2431 fairly certain the viper did better than 11.7 seconds in the quarter mile. Maybe that was on drag tires tho. Considering the GT did 11.2 at 131mph which is as quick as an Enzo(well not quite 11sec at 136mph)

@@lowbodyfat6707 It did come with a roof... its in the trunk. Its a canvas soft top with a folding metal frame. The canvas and vinyl zipper side windows are also in the trunk. Along with the pop out rear window Source: I own a 1992 viper.

I've got a Gen2 Viper and let me say (with a good bit of exuberance)...I'm incredibly impressed with how good the Gen1 Viper performed. She knows what she's doing. Never a dull moment in a Viper. They're a blast to drive.

I own a Gen 1 viper and can tell you modern cars don't feel as raw as the viper.. The torque comes on fast and it can hold its own against almost anything still on the road.. Simple mods to that old push rod engine can have it screaming and at a much lower price than anything modern.. Buy a Gen 1 viper for under 40k dump 20k In it and it's still faster than the hellcat of today.

I saw one today on the highway here in northern California except it was a Gen II RT/10 450HP. Such a beautiful car!!

Why do they always start in the wrong gear for the roll races? Should have been a 30 roll in 1st gear for both cars. Or maybe a 60 roll in 2nd.

Both of these cars are just awesome. To have either would make someone feel like king of the road. Probably my favorite video you guys have done! Love these stock vs stock races with special cars!

Things I found impressive. 1. A stock 1991 car (33 years old) did a 12.5sec 1/4 mile, and that's today, not back when it was new. 2. The Viper weighs under 1500kg(about 50kg less then a 2024 Golf R!) Despite having an 8.0L V10! Just shows how fat cars today have become with modern safety and comfort features

@LostCause36 Well yeah, the fact that most cars by the same manufacturer group are all built on the same platform helps them keep manufacturers costs low whilst maximising profit too. I mean how many cars are built on a Golf or modified golf platform including all varients. There has to be over a hundred, I would imagine.

So cool to see an original 92 viper still going hard. I have a 92 sitting in the garage, production #40. That car ages me a few years every time I drive it.

Fun! But it would have been more interesting to run a 2006 Viper (640 HP, V10) against that 2006 Ford GT. I think the results may have very different.

Vipers has been my favourite cars since i was a kid and it is always great to see the old classic. I didn't expect a 12.5 from a 30+ year old car on a dirrty road. And yeah, we MUST have Luna back for more episodes, she is just pure gorgeous!!!

With a few mods can get to just under 12 in a Gen 1 viper.. And not break the budget.. BTW Gen 1 vipers are a screaming bargain at 30 to 40k

I've honestly been shocked because that 91 Viper never fails to impress in all of these videos.

That GT will never get old. It looks even more cooler as it ages. Kudos to Viper though for keeping up with that masterpiece of a GT. Considering its performance and overall price differences that Viper still made GT to run for its name. In the end GT is just next class. Great video! 👍

I’m all about the Viper and I knew this would be no contest. Sure the Viper is lighter. It’s also producing less power the engine is up front. The GT may be heavier but it’s got the advantage of mid engine placement which puts weight on the drive wheels resulting in better traction/acceleration. Then there’s the more power output. Put that GT up against a 2006 Viper and there may be a significant difference

That old Viper did better than i thought. They are very laid back in stock form. A few mods will wake that V10 right up

Buy the viper and do some modest performance upgrades 👌

The Viper has always been my favorite car, ever since I was a kid. Unfortunately I was born in the Netherlands though... not many Vipers made it over here. Really wish to drive one once.

Luna did well to get a 12.5 from a car with a manual gearbox and it being basically near as old as i am haha over 33 years old , the GT is a lot newer and had more bhp yet only half a second quicker to quarter mile lol

I sold the Ford GT in 2005 (well '04)... they were $150,000 msrp and another $50k mark up. Had 2, sold 2 within 1 month. Amazing car! The dealership staff was just awestruck as they came off the trailer.
