Ford Fiesta XR2 Cylinder Head Recondition

Спорт

Hi everyone.
In this video you will see me recondition a cylinder head for a local man, who owns a Ford FIESTA XR2.
It’s been a long time since I worked on one of these engines, so it was great to get my hands on one again.
Hope you enjoy.
James.

Wow, that was a blast from the past had a XR3 in 1988 with a smokey engine🙄 spent easter weekend grinding valves by hand and replaced piston rings etc.. And back on the road for work Monday. Remember it like yesterday😊

Nice job well done. I too can remember the CVHs from the early nineties, they always smoked on startup and on gear changes!! They got a lot of bad press for the belts snapping but that’s usually down to a lack of maintenance, the one I had I found to be pretty reliable simple engine. Now, please put the cover back on that 3phase distribution board As it is a death trap in that workshop environment. All the best.

Had loads xr2s and xr3s in the past. Loved messing with them. Remember the crap factory spanners you supposed to use for adjusting the solid lifters in situ... Last xr2 or xr3 I saw was in Tenerife (mint xr3i), not seen one here for a long time. Really interesting rebuild / recondition thank you!

Great work👍 as I have an early xr3 that I’m wanting head work done with a mild road cam but what’s the score with unleaded conversion as can remember something from way back that every 3rd or 4th tank had to be old 4 star? Thanks

Thank you.. if we can help with yours just ask.. some of the head castings have seats hard enough for lead free, I can't remember what ones though.. as soon as the seat cutter touches it I know.
