Ford f250 Repairs and Road Trip to Sema 2023
Louis ViTen , My 2008 Ford F-250 made it through Ultimate Adventure 2023! But not without a few bent, broken, or worn out parts. On this episode I pull it back into the Dirthead Shed to take care of a few items before hitting the road again. This time it's a 1200 mile road trip to Las Vegas for it to appear in the Real Truck booth at Sema Fest. Follow along as I address the rear gear set noises, bent shocks, and damaged steering.

Dave, love watching your fab work & builds over the years. An observation from the bleachers…. If you experience some twist in your rear control arms while out wheeling, consider this design change. An enclosed shape (4-sided square, rectangle, or tube) resists twist better than an open channel (3-sided) of equivalent wall thickness. Think twisty OE stamped front & rear control arms. If you were to mount the shock above the CA using heavy-duty tabs on each side of the box, you’d have a link much more resistant to twist. Twisting may have been why the original shock bent. Think Pre-Runners & SCORE race trucks.
@thedirtheadshed

It’s not the metal that is twisting. I have Jonny joint style rode ends front and rear. I just need to make some wobble stoppers for the frame side rod end.

Great build and rebuild Dave 👍 Although the real Ultimate Adventure is only using the 1 minute Permatex "The Right Stuff" gasket maker for any and all sealing jobs! 😂 (I think I've scraped off as much of the 1 minute as I've successfully installed before it started setting up... Usually because instead of wasting half an hour to go buy a tube of 90 minute that either set up or I ran out of, I'll spend half a day wasting all my 1 minute, then go buy some 90 minute anyway, so that way when I REALLY need the 1 minute I only have the 90, which may be no good by that point because I usually lose the cap or don't plug the tubes... Now just reverse those two products and that's basically how I do every project... )🤔🤣👍
