I bought a 1988 Ford F150 4.9 liter inline 6. It had been sitting for four years. It has 132,087 miles.I got it running, and put about 500 dollars in parts. It has the manual 4 speed with overdrive. It runs like a champ now. The reason it didn’t run, was someone bolted up the negative terminal to the positive on the starter. 🤣I’d rather drive this truck for 500 bucks, with 500 in parts, than paying 1000 a month for a 100,000 dollar truck. People are crazy paying that kind of money for a truck. 👍

One thing I stopped looking at a year ago was the repo crisis which GM, Ford, etc., does not talk about. Even though I live in northern NJ, I will most likely buy a used Civic Coupe with a manual transmission for $3,000 - $5,000. Won't be sexy but not having car payments is the sexiest of all. Plus, my insurance would go through the roof. My daughter drives this year and I purchased a 10 yo CRV with 40,000 on it 7 years ago.

@@russriley3005They got too greedy and made the Tesla cars luxury vehicles. They originally should’ve been made lightweight and less gadgets. Everything they could have done to streamline their vehicle instead of this cool new gadget, stuff it in there. They can also use solar panels and H circuit two sets of battery banks which is healthier for charging but also that can be removed from behind the back bumper for a swap out program at an employee maintained charging station. The employee swaps your batteries out so you don’t have to wait for charging the batteries. This way they can also maintain the safety standard for the batteries by checking them over at the station before charging them up again for the next customer. You only pay for the charging and a small service fee for the swap out. Which would only be common sense design for these vehicles as A to B travellers.

I remember having a problem with boiling coolant several years ago when I had an old 2000 Chevy S10. I took a trip out to the beach and when I got there, I noticed coolant on the ground. When I opened up the hood, I saw that the coolant was boiling. I thought that I might have had a bad radiator cap, so I went to the store and bought a new one. The old cap wasn't holding the pressure so the coolant could circulate and replacing the radiator cap did the trick. I didn't have any more coolant issues after that.

It will boil even at the correct mixture if not under the correct psi the effect of the system being under a specified psi designed by the manufacturer raises the initial boiling point temperature of the properly mixed coolant water mixture. Even 100% antifreeze wont keep the system from boiling if the coolant system isnt under correct pressure, specially down at the water pump impeller which is known as cavitation. @Gunsofvegas

Maybe if the build quality control in the US was as good as everywhere else people in other countries would buy US built vehicles but they don't. Evne in Britain they are known for 60 years as 'Dagenham dustbins' after the Ford factory's location. The UK Ford build quality problem going back decades. Ford EV mustang was a niche market at best. Mustang owners were never going to switch. Wrong car, wrong market. Another Ford cock up. The board at Ford are lost and don't know what to do. Those Ford EV mustangs will become very collectorable and a reminder of where legacy manufacturers went wrong.

(it gets hot down there) my next step is to pull the head. my question to you is: is there any way i can find this leak without pulling the head.its a pretty good leak too. enough to make the oxygen sensor throw a code. i got one of those scopes but i just can't seem to see anything. not that i would be able to fix it without pulling the head. any ideas would greatly appreciated. i need to get this clear so it will pass inspection.

We need to at least admit that auto shops drive the ridiculous antics of insurance companies somewhat as well. I remember taking my car to a body shop for an estimate. The 1st question they asked , before assessment, was "is the insurance paying for it or you (me)". Now why should that matter . Bc they know the insurance company has bigger pockets but a threshold where theyll just total it (ie no business for the shop). And me, probably limited by loney on hand or credit card limit, right. Shady shops and shady business. Just the way that it is. If you can, do everything yourself.
