FordTechMakuloco just wanted to thank you again for all your great videos, and getting back to me last year. With your help and that of your videos, I fixed my dad's 2000- F150's transmission and changed the timing chain. Had a bit of a Snafu at first when I used the long screw for the right chain guide on both guides, when I put the cover back on I noticed the bolt wasn't flush on the left, so pulled the cover off and found that I had forgotten to pull the pin on one of the tensioners. Anyhow, one year later my dad's truck has nearly the same power as when it was new, and is running great. My next project will be to service the rear differential. Again thanks for all the videos and take care.

I'm not sure if this is what I need to do myself or not. But mine will sometimes have a loud bang and a jolt like I'm getting rear ended by a small economy car. It has happened when I'm going up a hill at 30mph. And it happens when I try to gun it and get it to go into passing gear to pass someone. It's a loud audible BANG and I feel the whole truck jolt. Mine never got fixed for the recall until today. It's a 2013 3.5 v6 ecoboost and the dealership sent someone out to my home today to perform the recall. And it didn't change anything. I have 138k on the odometer. Was yours doing this loud bang shift type thing as well?

Brian, My sincere thanks for putting together all of these videos. It has made essential service to my 2017 F-150 5.0L 4X4 easy and done with confidence. This service is the last one on the list after I replaced spark plugs, front differential fluid, transfer case fluid, rear differential fluid, and new Motorcraft yellow coolant. The truck has never run better and I've actually gained 4+ MPG for highway driving. My transmission started acting up (slamming gears and wouldn't shift into 6th) and was throwing multiple codes at around 50k miles; the main one being a P0720 for the output speed shaft sensor. Given the TSB related to that code for 2011-2013 6R80's, I am confident that my issue is related to the molded lead frame. I was able to order the molded lead frame, foam strip seal for the solenoids, transmission filter, bulkhead sleeve, and pump pass through seal from my local Ford Dealer for $330 out the door. Definitely worth it and will save many headaches in the future. I actually had a different dealer tell me there was no serviceable filter on my truck, so I knew I had to do this myself. A HUGE THANK YOU from your neighbor in the great state of Missouri.

I just changed mine on my 2014 ford expedition. 83k miles. Fault code P0720! Went in to limp mode. Miles to empty went blank and my Tire Pressure Monitoring light came on. Output shaft sensor was the problem. Parks ford of Wesley chapel wanted to replace transmission for 5k! They did not even consider changing the lead frame when I explained to the service manager that ford recalled over 1 million cars and trucks for the same problems. All ford did is perform a software load on 2013 and newer cars and trucks to eliminate the possibility of downshifting into first gear if the output shaft sensor fails. However they still kept putting in the same faulty lead frame in newer cars and trucks. Thanks for your great videos. Big Help! I think the total cost was about 275 bucks with fluid and gasket as well as a new connector. Runs like a champ!

THANK YOU!!! My 2013 F-150 just went out about 2 weeks ago. I bought all the parts and tools that I'd need and watched this video about 6 or 7 times. I took a few notes and wrote down step-by-step instructions just in case my phone wouldn't load this video if I needed it to. Just like all your other videos, this one was absolutely spot on and gave me the confidence to tackle this job by myself. I didn't even have to refer back to the video once during the entire process. THANK YOU AGAIN!!! Just in case anyone out there is contemplating this job, I was able to do it and I consider myself a "slighter better than the average DIY mechanic.....at best." Also a few notes that may help the next guy: -The front and rear bolts of the trans pan required a 1/4 drive socket wrench because the cooler lines and exhaust pipe are in the way. I couldn't use an impact gun. When I reinstalled them, I basically guessed the torque setting because my torque wrench wouldn't fit. -I only had (3) transfer tubes vise (4) on my 2013. The two to the right (green and blue) were actually stuck to the valve body. The other one was still in the far left hole. -For the life of me, I cant remember ensuring the manual shaft and manual valve were lined up. I think I did it. I've driven the vehicle 40 miles since and everything seems perfect. But I just can remember actually lining the two up. I was got sidetracked torquing the valve body bolts. -Trans fluid starting spilling out after 5.5 quarts. Next time, I'll measure after the 4th quart and adjust as needed. I cant thank you enough for all the videos you make!!!

My buddy owns a transmission shop he’s a top notch builder. It’s interesting about solenoid shifted transmissions and how reliant they are on other sensors for proper operation. Even large trucks have this style of shifted transmission and anything you ad on that requires action while moving, for example sanders or plows, such as on dump trucks, requires seamless electronic signals to operate properly. Ford is a popular chassis for many things like fire trucks, again example mini pumpers or brush rigs, Ford proprietary electronics are a tough system for aftermarket electronic systems to work with water pumps and other equipment need to communicate with the PCM and transmission sensors. manufacturers are challenged with making electronics that work with Fords.

Outstanding video. Ford had a recall on these in March 2019. My supervisor’s daughter brought in her 2012 or 2013 F-150 for the repair and that lasted for about 9 months. Then it wouldn’t shift out of 1st and the speedometer was showing 0 mph. I did a transmission fluid and filter change in early December 2019 and everything was fine; however, this issue recently reappeared a couple of weeks ago. A friend of mine suggested the lead frame or frame lead whichever it’s called and I immediately looked to see if you did a video on it and thankfully you have. My 2011 F150 tried to kill me on the highway while towing a trailer. I noticed the speedometer moving around and then go to 0mph. The trans tried to shift into first gear multiple times. It banged and slammed like you wouldn’t believe. This was all before the recall. It got towed to Ford and they replaced the molded lead frame. The recall is abosolute garbage. It’s a bandaid like Brian stated. The trans won’t try to kill you, but you can still get stranded. It’s just a programming update so it won’t shift into first gear, but I believe it will just go into limp mode. Good job Ford! Doing this as a preemptive repair is a good idea.

Success thanks to this video. 2011 F150 5.0 w/ 209K I had an intermitten no crank no start. This issue developed as an occasional delayed start when turning the key. Noted that the dash gear select indicator light would not illuminate in failure state (P would not be orange) Eventually, progressed to where I could put the key in and turn 5-500 times before the indicator would illuminate and allow for a regular start. Ordered the OEM Lead frame, coastal sleeve, pump pass through and fluid from a dealership. I had a fluid change and trans filter replaced less than 10 mos ago otherwise would have changed the filter too. Although the trans pan gasket could be reused, I had to pick up an aftermarket at assembly time due to damage noted at the flexible point on the old gasket. This video was great to eliminate any surprises. One deviation I had was 2 of my transfer tubes were secured in the trans and 2 were secured in the valve body. No big deal as none of them were loose, just an unexpected configuration. I put the front end on jack stands for better access. This still allowed me to fill the trans when finished, I did take them out for the final fluid check though. Glad I printed the torque specs and tightening sequence as that was very handy to have during assembly. Grateful to have found this video. FordTechMakuloco, thanks a ton for creating and sharing this. As others have said, you are a good communicator and effectively convey necessary info. With gratitude, Dennis.
