Ford 289 - Jim Inglese Induction
Well, after a little time to get the engine broken-in, the cursory fluid checks, and a tightening a few random nuts and bolts, I've got the carbs synchronized and the timing adjusted. Still have a few other things to clean up, but otherwise she's doing really well. If all goes as expected, I should be seeing somewhere in the area of 500 HP (crankshaft) at 8000 RPM and 480 HP at 7000 RPM. Put that in a 3200 Lb. car and things should get interesting really quick.
This is the first gas engine I've built in years, and short of the 1000 HP, full race Big Block Chevy I helped a friend build over 25 years ago, this is definitely the most impressive engine I've ever built. I love the look... I love the sound... And soon enough, I'm going to see how well it does on the street.
I hope you all enjoy the videos. I apologize for the narration. I should probably just shut my mouth and let the engine speak for itself.
Thanks for watching!

I'm a Chevrolet and now I'm 72, But when I was 161 of my first jobs was working at a Ford dealership, That's one bad a** little motor that 289🔥🔥🔥⚙️⚙️⚙️💪💪💪
Nice little Windsor and great engine run stand.
That engine sounds like an apex preditor stalking its prey
289 and 351 c , best engines ever made , period .
289 loves some rpm! Sounds great!
Good old 289 yippy
My brother has a high compression 289. Back in the 70's. In a 65 mustang. Banana yellow factory color. I drove it a few times open header and I GOT ON IT!!! Yes I did. Very impressive horsepower for a motor that starts with a 2-----289
shelby would be proud of that engine
Thank you for showing me this. I have work to do now
What cam are you running? Amazing sounding engine, that is very well sorted! Looks great too!
I had one 300 000 before rebuild and that's miles ohya baby

@@williamcohron2380 After reading some comments, we aren't the only ones thinking it sounds like a big cat. Also.....you built this engine?! I'm impressed. If you'll see my avatar, I have a '62 F100. It has an anemic FORD 302 in it. Maybe, something like your bad-ass cougar could go in it. Would that engine make a good daily driver? Edit: You have won a subscriber. I can't get enough of this engine.

@@RalphSampson... Thanks for the vote of confidence! I appreciate it. The engine was built from the ground up. The only original part was the block. Literally everything else was new, with most parts coming from Summit. The engine would make a good daily driver. It's solid, runs great on 93, and with the T56 trans, it's a monster. However, I would NOT do a 4 Weber setup for a daily driver. They don't have a choke circuit and are temperamental as hell when cold. For an otherwise daily driven street car, I'd probably revert to a single 4 bbl, maybe in the 650 CFM range. It's a good engine and I couldn't be happier with how it runs.

@@williamcohron2380 I know this a rude question but, how much money is invested in that engine? I see crate engine from $3,500 on up. I don't have big dollars right now but, I need to make plans. A race engine is not needed but, 350 to 400 HP would be good and maybe still have decent MPG. I'm just investigating it all, at the moment. I think I'd like to keep it old school with a 4 barrel carb and not fuel injected. I really am at the beginning of the planning stage.
Sounds like a Panther Pissing!
She’s so fine!!!
Oh Gosh, can you smooth it out , says the modern yuppie !! 🤣😂

I hope not…
Did you get this in a car? I would enjoy more videos of this little screamer.
All the chevys that just pissed their pans . lol .
sweet.......any videos of the engine in the car?
since i have little space , might be fun to build dream engines instead of dream cars, this is number one for me, next, cross boss boss 302
Short stroke big bore huge stupid stick and over 800 cfm of air management is never a recipe for disaster unless you are bad at driving...
sounds like a cougar !!
That is one sweet engine. Can you built my 289 with the same set-up.
Is it a hassle syncing up the webers? Was looking at this or efi stack for my 347..

Is actually not difficult at all. You will need a synchronizer, but that's about it. All the linkage allows for easy adjustment.

I’ve been synchronizing multiple Weber, Delorto and Solex set ups for years not hard at all.
Did you get it in the car?
Any update on this in the car
