Force Recon Reigns Supreme
Who doesn't love to see recon Marines jumping out of planes?
Sgt. Collin Johansen talks about what it takes to conduct reconnaissance operations like parachuting.
Force Company, 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion's Delta Detachment conducted its third field exercise from Feb. 18-21, 2014. A full day was spent on inserting by parachute before teams patrolled on foot over eight kilometers to their observation posts.
Marines jumped twice in one day. The first jump without a combat load and the second with a full combat load. Loads weighed between 100-150lbs. and consisted of a weapon, rucksack, and load-bearing vest with ammo.
After the insertion Marines observed enemy troops for three days and two nights to practice clandestine operations.

Ross Brunson Hell yeah! The Paramarines would be a great recruiting AND retention tool, not just because they jump, but because we could use them in a similar way to the Rangers and the British Special Forces Support Group! Take Direct Action from the Rangers, and take support Operations for MARSOC from the SFSG. Spin up a selection course do not everyone can make it in/ to make it harder than regular infantry, but not as hard as Recon, Scout/ Sniper, or MARSOC. Big big rules, more money, and more missions compared to regular infantry. That would help us keep personnel instead of losing good Marines to the Rangers. Oh well, a Marine can dream.

@@cm-pr2ys There is no way they can afford that. They need to make the standard marine a "commando" like the UK. The only commando we have is recon and raiders are a whole different thing.
Sadly only that marine MOS maybe scout sniper also only has airborne, well looks like either we take bigger hell than SEALS, or we go to Army: Paratrooper, RANGER, SNIPER; or SF fields, at least we got what we wished for.
No story on them repealing the 'No rolled sleeves' policy yet? So exciting haha
