Marines Support the 57th Presidential Inaugural Parade

Bravo Company Marines from Marine Barracks Washington marched during the 57th Inaugural Parade from the U.S. Capitol to the White House, Jan. 21, 2013. For centuries, Marines and other service members have supported the inaugural events. This year, more than 180 Marines from Marine Barracks Washington marched in the Inaugural Parade behind The President's Own band. The Inaugural Parade followed the ceremonial swearing-in of President Barack Obama, which took place on the Capitol steps.

Marine Corps Rifleman's Creed: (excerpt from Warrior Culture of the U.S. Marines, copyright 2001 Marion F. Sturkey) In boot camp at Parris Island or San Diego, and in the Basic School at Quantico, no one escapes from the Rifleman's Creed. Every Marine is trained, first and foremost, as a rifleman, for it is the rifleman who must close with and destroy the enemy. The rifleman remains the most basic tenet of Marine Corps doctrine. All else revolves around him. Marine Aviation, Marine Armor, Marine Artillery, and all supporting arms and warfighting assets exist to support the rifleman. It is believed that MGen. William H. Rupertus, USMC, authored the creed shortly after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. It is commonly known as the Rifleman's Creed, but it has also been called "My Rifle: The Creed of a United States Marine." Every Marine must memorize this creed. And, every Marine must live by the creed. This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me my rifle is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than the enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will. My rifle and I know that what counts in war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, or the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit. My rifle is human, even as I am human, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strengths, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its barrel. I will keep my rifle clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other. Before God I swear this creed. My rifle and I are the defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life. So be it, until victory is America's and there is no enemy.

M1 Garand Drill Rifles - Rack Grade with the additions of: gas cylinder lock screw is welded to lock and gas cylinder, barrel is drilled, plugged and welded at chamber mouth. Barrel is welded to the receiver, firing pin hole is welded closed on bolt face. Rifle wear will be exhibited by worn and mixed colors of the finish; there may be some pitting on the metal parts; wood will be basically sound but may be well used with minor hairline cracks, poor fit,

Hmm, if so, then why are the operating rods in the closed position? It is to my understanding that if the bolt was open, then the operating rod would be in the back position, not in the front position, as seen in this video. Oh, and yes, I have handled the M1 Garand before, so I do have personal experience backing me up here, including the infamous Garand thumb which is easy to prevent.

I would agree that the Bolt actions in the front of the parade still had there bolts. However, the M1 Garand’s, that were the majority, didn’t have their bolts installed. Look closely at the Operating rods; they're in the closed position. Can you see any bolts in any of those rifles? Call me blind, but I don't see anything that should be there when the Operating rods are in the closed position.

These guys were so sloppy they looked like boots in week ONE of boot camp! Canted rifles..A NO-NO!...out of alignment..a NO-NO!!! Not together in movement?? These guys drill 24/7 and they look like this??? These are NOT US Marines!!!! AND no bolts??? The POTUS is scared crap-less of us!!!

Great military and ceremonial participation of these men in uniform. But I wish these ceremonious occasions were even better. Why not present something similar to what a country like Chile presents and displays in their parades and ceremonies. There is nothing wrong for a nation to make these oficial ceremonies more disciplined and more military like. US Marines can do this well, the US Army could also be directed to make these important parades more elegant (militarily speaking), more presentable and in their marching, more admirable through practice and discipline. I invite anyone to review what Chile does in their annual September Military Parade when they publicly celebrate their historic glories of their Army with a military presentation that is viewed and admired throughout the world.

I know that you know how to avoid the thumb problem with the M1's but the neophyte 's who read the misinformation don't know it. I Also saw Marines with M16's with bolts closed also in the parade which also was not mention by the teaparty who I think put this misinformation on their site to begin with .
