Foraging the Channel Markers for Food! Catch n Cook
It was a windy day for fishing so I decided to forage around the channel markers for fresh Mussels for and epic Linguine Marinara!

Well that just brought back some wonderful memories of when Dad would get my brother and i and go and collect mussels off the entrance rocks at Lakes Entrance then would go up the north arm and catch a heap of garfish. We would then have a massive cook up of garfish and mussels and invite all the nearby campers to come and share some wonderful tucker and a few cold ones. Thankyou so much for sharing this video and evoking such wonderful memories.

I'm glad it has Mark! Sounds like fond memories and you've brought a few for me with he garfish! And a very quick visit to Lakes Entrance..very nice place👍🍻
Nice Dom. Next is the crabs unless you got your self a couple cray pots and dumped them behind garden island 🤔. You tipped out some of the original salty water and then added salt twice back to the sauce? Not sure about that, i would think the original saltness from the mussel water would be better. Anyways, great vid, awesome cook up. Domappetite 🤘

Hay Dom I put them in a scaler bag and tow them behind the boat and they come up like bought ones 😂

Yum Yum! What more can one say! About 40 years ago our family Christmas table would have fresh picked mussels from EF Yacht Club pylons, with crabs and flounder from Blackwall Reach. Looks like those who do the work are rewarded as you were today 👍👍

Not a big fan of mussels Dom , but when I was a kid growing up in Melbourne plenty of fish were caught using them as bait , especially Leatherjackets and Whiting in Western Port bay . Looks like Mum was enjoying her feed of Mussels as well . Cheers 🐔 🍻 🐓 🍺 O

Amazing Dom . All us paesano’s love mussels. I have a bridge by me where I get them clean like you. No sand when they are up high off the sand. Taste way better than the farm raised ones. Makes the best broth!!! Cheers Dom!! Buon appetite!!👍👍🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹

Nice cookup Dom fresh mussels are delicious. I would be more worried about Blue Ring Ocy's amongst those mussels I use a crab scoop net especially in Cockburn Sound if the swell is up make great snapper berly. Cheers

I used to get mine from under the Freo traffic bridge. A good way to clean them is to use a large mussel and rub the edge of it against the other mussels to get rid of any barnacles or other debris. Nice one Dom.

As a Chef I found it amusing that you steamed the mussels open and threw away the salty water, then add tomatoes and SALT..... next time could i suggest you pour off all the water in the beginning, sweat down your tomatoes , they have plenty of water in them, and as they break down then use the salty sea water from the start to season the tomatoes and get the right sauce consistency... no need to add any extra salt at all and you retain a heartly seafood base to the sauce.

I mainly drained the excess water due to the excess debris from the mussel shells. I usually strain the water to remove debris, but didn't this one👍
