I may not be accomplishing anything. I am someone who don't have any talent or capacity in this world. Many people tries to encourages me while other are trowing trash things to me. I am crazy and I wan't to stay crazy. Being intelligent the way of the goodness in this world is not welcomed. I had hopes before but now I have one which could be many. And Blender is only one of the multiples (maybe all) domains where I'm hopeless and incapable... I still try. I don't have motivations, but wishes, not only for Blender. It may never come, I will certainly fail so much that I'll never suceed in anything in my life, but I still try. I want to have feelings, giving chances to anyone for not having the Monter part, I want to make goodness depite my capacities. This world don't wan't someone like me, but I wan't to still trying. Some say I'm depressed, other say that they want to feel and believe in my hopes, some say I'm stupid and a desespered case and trash, other say that I'm too good/kind for this world... I'm all of it maybe, I'm maybe someone without any future. I still want try despite the fact that casily everything is killing me inside. I've been in Blender since 5 years more or less, I can understand many tutorials, but I can't apply this knowledge. I am Me since 16, and at 20 I became what people says (depressive... in my way, but still me) and no one truely understand me (and it'll never happen except maybe with a mental machine thing... don't know). I am Logan, no talents, no passions, no capacities, casily nothing but me and the hope that I am wrong in some ways... Still, I try. Love you all, or at least I wan't to love you all.

Exercise, eat healthy and read about mental psychology and about all important hormones that make you feel good, motivated and energized and how to maintain and increase them via diet and your own thinking process.. What you put inside your mouth has a strong relation with how you feel. Always remember, we have one life, do everything possible! Live fast, die young. Do not waste your days, your time, watch videos like this and remember everything. Let your brain take control and not your feelings. BE THE BEST! TRUST ME, YOU CAN AND WILL RECOVER AND BECOME AMAZING! Just keep learning, working and trying, when it's time, it'll all get fixed! MAKE BLACK COFFEE YOUR BEST FRIEND! Edit: To motivate yourself, just put the phone down, keep your PC sway. Lie down on your bed for 20 mins and do nothing. Just ask yourself. 1. What am I supposed to do? 2. Why I'm not doing it? 3. Why I wanted to do it in the first place? 4. What will happen if I push myself now and start doing it? Then get up and START WORKING HARD! Eat healthy, sleep well, listen to cheerful music and also dance sometimes alone in your room in front of the mirror while listening to your favorite party songs! Tell yourself "I'm gonna earn the life I want! I'm strong and worthy!" if you feel you're nor strong enough then tell yourself "I'm gonna become strong!" under any case, I'm gonna have what I want! Develop mental toughness!! YOU MUST BE STRONG, ONLY THE STRONGEST AND THE HEALTHIEST ANIMALS GET THE BEST LIVES! With time, you'll develop all the talents, just keep on learning, everything has a beginning! Stay away from too calm or sas songs, they're shit! Be aggressive at all times! BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!

One more thing to remember- Do NOT wait for motivation. You’ve got to create the discipline to practice especially when you’re not “feeling up for it”. This will create a habit which will lead to progress. You will find your motivation in progress- not from wishing it to be or taking adderall to make it easier, etc. Incredible video and sub earned. Now go make that donut and sword!

I'd advise that cautiously, since my biggest developments, however small in the big picture, have come from when I was inspired, and my biggest obstacles have been when I tried forcing myself despite the wrong mindset. But have the critical thinking to recognize the value of sticking with it even if you don't feel up to it in the moment, and even better, the critical thinking to question and find what will motivate you. And recognize poor excuses or doubts, like when I don't want to get started just because I would have to take my computer out of a bag and turn it on

On July I will hit my first year since I started my journey to become a 3D Artist, I really feel a passion for 3D, I'm almost 50 an sometimes in the past I felt discouraged cause I wondered if I'm too old to try to learn 3D, it is definitely not an easy task an I’m still very far from calling myself a 3D artist but I will not stop, I don't care if this will take me the rest of my life but I enjoy what I'm learning, an I love Blender, thank you for this video.

Did you ever watch a film and think "Great film, but that director's an old guy"? Unless you are an athlete absolutely nobody with a brain will possibly care less how old you are. Fifty is still pretty young, anyway (I can hear 25 year-olds laughing at that - just wait til you get to 50 and see how you feel). People will only care about what you can put on the screen and how much it's going to cost them. Wishing you all the very best in your learning and in your Blending :-)

Its not about age.. not at all,, different people reach different things in different timing in their lives. In your life you might have reached things before others do, others might have reached things before you do. Just start from where you are when ever it comes to you, or just go to it yourself! and don't compare with others, compare your self today with your yesterdays self. You know what.. we all can say many things to others, but when it comes to "doing it" in real life (ourselves) we just struggle.. a lot.. and if we started struggling, then we continued and went through that struggling process it means that we are developing, and overcoming that struggle is the achievement of that Journey.. after that another struggle will start.. will you go for it? .. IF you dare to do so.. ..just don't stop :) ^^ For Me, You, and Everyone

You have to enhance your environment to make your good habits easier, attractive and satisfying. Environmental design (irl) plays a huge role in our behaviour to certain habits. So play around with it.

So there is one pro tip from me. I've started learning Blender almost one year ago, got better and better at it with every model I made. Learned a lot of things, but after some time I started leaving my projects uncompleted, even stopped modelling for almost 2 months. The reason was that models I created felt lifeless. They were just laying on my HDD doing nothing, so there was no point for me to keep making them. The key that brought me back to having fun was learning how to use Unity Engine. I started learning it, creating simple games, with it I could bring life to my models! Find a way to use your models guys, this will give you a lot of fun and a goal to reach while modelling :)

I intend to do that, only with Unreal 5.

My favourite line "There are many examples of artists who came before you and were able to do it and many artists who will come after you who'll be able to do it as well, not because they are super talented and you are not but because they wanted it bad enough"

This December will be the 24th anniversary of when I first started learning 3ds Max. In that time I've used the money earned from that career to raise 3 kids, provide for an ailing ex wife, support an impoverished child in a third world country, and create marketing videos for medical device companies that have enabled them to make millions of dollars, which in turn was used to provide for many more families. I'm not advocating for Max over Blender, but I am saying that whatever you learn, work hard and don't give up. The world will be a better place for it.

@Trantor The Troll just because people are divorced doesn't mean they don't care about each other anymore. It doesn't cancel those years they spent together creating a life with their kids. His ex wife likely put a lot of effort into their children, and he wants to make sure she can be comfortable despite them no longer being in a relationship. Compassion isn't about in-the-moment gain. Sharing good fortune is one of the greatest happinesses.

A mistake I recently made was learn a bit then try to do something out of my skill level. Don’t do this ever, I am now taking it slower and doing more tutorials instead of trying to design a full house by myself. I’m very new and I should slow down

This is true for any form of art. The more I drew, the more I looked at real life and turned it into a painting/drawing in my mind. It is crazy how it happens, it's like your brain slowly becomes a generator of some sorts. Same is true for 3D haha

I downloaded this video back then and have always watched it when I question myself about learning Blender. I'm self-taught, so it happens all the time. Watching this really pumped me up, like the frustration I feel disappeared without realizing it. It’s so nostalgic to watch this video, yet it feels so heavy. It is my dream, and I feel that this thing is what I want, what I really want. But sadly, it doesn’t mean that if you really want something, you will get it. Reaching this dream does not only mean fighting myself but also dealing with the other factors affecting my ability to reach it. I don’t have skills or talents in art, and no matter what I do, I’ll always be average, but I can deal with it. I have the determination, the perseverance, the tenacity-you name it. I started learning it in 2020, when COVID starts, and I quit learning it in the middle of 2022 because soon face-to-face classes will be implemented, and I can’t give time to learning it because I’ll be focusing on my studies at this college. I can’t afford to fail a subject because I know that no matter what I do, I’m just an average guy and I’m not that smart, all I have is diligence. Also, I’m an only child, my father left us when I was still small, so my mother is a solo parent, and she’s old too, which will make me practical in choosing a career where I need to take the one that is easy to earn money. I know that this course has a decent salary, but not in my country, even if I go abroad, there are so many other job seekers. Speaking of college, I didn’t and I can’t take a course related to this because there are no public colleges that offer this kind of course, and I can’t afford private colleges. I don’t think I can take this career when the time is right because I’ll be busy working and it will eat up my time to the extent that I don’t have any time for that. I was born in a third-world country, which makes achieving my dreams more difficult. Living in a country where education support and opportunity are inadequate is upsetting, and the income is just barely supporting our daily expenses, which is just depressing. I don’t have an internet connection, and I only have a low-end laptop I've used (till now). I always go to the computer shop to download necessary tutorials, articles, and references I can work on. It is not just tiring but also expensive. Right now, I still feel the desire and passion to learn it, but fighting this dream with sheer determination in this state is just discouraging. It’s just winning a meaningless battle where I finally learn this, but what for? HAHA. Being born in the wrong country, with the wrong family, and in the wrong character sucks as fuck.

Hi! Thank you for sharing. I can relate to your feelings. I have a strong determination for animation that feels like it's ready to burst out. However, growing up in an unstable family forced me to abandon my dream of attending art school. It's been 3 years, I'm planning to take some courses to gain my dream back, and it's a bit frightening because I don't have many people supporting me. My family wants me to pursue a career with a high salary, but what if that doesn't bring me happiness? haha sucks, isn't it? TvT i know it feels heavy in the heart, but, i also feel like there IS a way. with or without support, i guess i'm gonna try my best first. i hope everything goes well to you there!

I saw this video December 2023 since then I play it every morning getting ready for work. My creations have progressed rapidly and my mental is still healthy thank you.

its the most stupid comment ever "dont compare yourself to others" it makes me want to scream and pull my hair out. you should compare yourself to others a LOT, CONSTANTLY. at least if you want to make any type of money or get any jobs in the industry. otherwise you will end up doing sub-standard work and also re-invent the wheel all the time. like.. lets say you didnt compare yourself to others, you didnt even look much at other works. so you sit there in your own little bubble working without a care in the world. you end up spending 300 hours creating a scene and you think its sooo good and sooo original. now it turns out some chinese 11 year old already made something really similar, only difference is he made it in 30 hours, and he made it look even better. guess whos scene the customer/employer will go for. not only that, will they even bother to stop and look at what you created? anyone who says "dont compare yourself to others" is a fucking moron.

I couldn't do anything in blender for years in comparison. Also it is a sprint, maybe your life is a marathon, and I envy that, because a lot of people's life is a sprint before death, life goes by quickly when you have responsabilities.

i never do it as a pro or anything, but i have always had a passion for 3d and love the challenge. coming from truespace2 and then to lightwave up till v9, i always looked at blender with hope, but felt overwhelmed with its methods up until 2.8 update. now i feel at home and inspired every time i open it to try random stuff and grow my blender knowledge. the community is the one reason i keep pushing my blender path,

Ha another Caligari trueSpace disciple :D my first was version 3. something that i found as an OEM pack-in with some scanner or something. I have tried Max back then. When i discovered Blender right around version 2.0, i think i found a book at a public library, it was a relevelation, how i just needed to memorise the keyboard shortcuts (i printed them out) and then i could model so freely, the interface stayed out of the way. It was a very simple piece of software compared to now, but it still already had everything you needed to model, render and animate, it was tight and focused, and very optimised not to get in your way of creativity. I hadn't actually kept up with it very well, just picking it up for one or another thing as i needed it but never absorbing even close to the full feature set, and relearning it now is a little bit overwhelming, but it's also fun.

KZread literally recommended me this video when i was on the verge of giving up on blender poses. I'm shook, but also this video is an amazing boost ! Thank you !

This video is not just for animators, but anyone who wants to learn anything new, different and challenging from their usual set of skills... I've seen the video twice now... And I know I'll see it again in the future, because it gives me hope and confidence... Thank you so much for sharing...

My ex wife left me for another man a few months ago. Im trying my best to use art as an outlet instead of being down about it. I understand how hard it can be when someone you really love leaves you (death or otherwise). I struggle a lot, but I'm also super driven to improve. Just don't beat yourself up when you need a day, or two, or three, or even a week to recoup. Every time I work at something (be it a paper/pencil drawing, 3D, grease pencil, etc) I see little improvements. We can do this Roderick!

im a blender beginner and i had just started it this week i found it very complicated and sometimes i thought i couldnt reach the levels of those professional 3d artists. But i spoke to myself professional were once also beginners like me and now they already made amazing 3d works and that really works. I made the good 3d arts and this video my inspiration hope ill made my own animation soon thanks for the video

2 years ago, I tried to use Blender, only to fail as I didn't realise how complicated it was going to be, which lead to my downfall. Then I tried again last year, I understood some basics, but lacked the motivation. Now I'm back in 2020, I've made a donut in 2 days and I'm making my coffee with plates tomorrow. After that I'll start on low poly structures to expand my knowledge even further in Blender. This whole thing started with 1 picture in which I found from Google. That image made me write a history, like a book which I want to turn into a movie series. This will take about 5-10 years, but I am motivated to keep working, and I will not stop.

Hey man you did it, you made coffee with plates? Damn. It's been around 8 years since I used blender for the first time... I don't think I could even reach your skill. Have fun with 3D modelling my friend, it seems to have accepted you, don't reject it.

This speech should be compulsory listening for anyone who downloads Blender for the first time, or struggles to keep going with it. I remember being incredibly frustrated and often very stressed during the early days of my learning, but pretty much from the first week the excitement of seeing what I was able to do - and to think of what I would do as I got better and better at it - massively outweighed all of the negatives. I was pretty much aimless and unfulfilled in my life in general until August 2016, when I downloaded Blender and did my first ever tutorial. Without wishing to overdo it, I knew instantly that I had found 'my thing' (after a good few decades of searching, haha!) and that I was going to stick at it whatever it took. Yes, it is a hard thing to learn, but the rewards are unbelievably satisfying. This was a really excellent video.

I'm hoping animation might be it?? I only started today however! I love drawing (with pencil/paper) but it doesn't make money so I'm trying to branch out my options.

I love this video as I can truly relate to it at the moment. Blender is frustrating to me, but that's only because I want to create what's in mind into reality. I am enjoying the process and learning and have given myself about 3 years to have a good understanding of the product. Like anything in life, you have to get out of your comfort zone, be persistent and as you said, believe in yourself that you're going to make it happen.

i am halfway through your video, and you made me cry. your words are so true, it hurts so much. years of constant self doubt and negative thoughts! oh man. thank you. i needed to hear this.

I have only just started blender, this is my second attempt after my first attempt my doubt got the better of me. I have never really know what i wanted to do in life. Living it day by day just getting by not doing much i love. Got me thinking the one thing i really enjoy is the 3D shorts or movies or any animation that really hits you in the feels. So i am now back at it trying to teach myself again in blender. Gotta keep pushing forward!!

No, just because our PC is a bit bad doesn't mean it limitates you to everything. You can still do great things on some cheap PC, but of course, there will be some small limitations, but that won't stop you to make at least something simple.

For people with low end pcs (not laptops), if you are willing to learn, you don't need much to start doing great work on blender, the first step is a gpu. There are great budget gpus that will run cycles decently. Look for Rx 400 and 500 series gpu from amd or some old Nvidia 970 or 980 and you'll be able to go a long way. Those get pretty cheap where I'm from, it may vary for you but those are mainly sub 100us$ cards

One of the main topic that keeps me encouraged with learning blender is the humble and generous community. Literally i've found no toxic or discouraging people since i started learning. And this is what kept me going on with learning process. Thanks a lot to this brilliant community :)

This video is so inspirational, it did talk about doubts I usually have, not just with my interest in digital sculpting, but just trying new things. This is a video I can look back on and keep me motivated to not give up so easily.

I'm 13 years old and I've always wanted to work with 3D Graphics. First time I downloaded blender I couldn't understand anything but seeing what I did months ago to what I do now just makes me feel proud. I didn't pay anyone to teach me, just learned it by myself sitting in a room alone watching thousands of tutorials and taking notes. Its an amazing feeling

This is an incredible video! I've been learning blender for 8 months and can't tell you how many time I've wanted to quit in frustration. Its complicated, detailed, precise, and has limitless possibilites. But with all the challenge something kept bringing me back and I hadn't heard it put into words until what you said about the joy of making something out of these polygons and vertices. That was perfectly expressed. I recently just finished my first big animation project, its not perfect but to me it looks amazing and I couldn't be more proud. Thank you for really capturing our feelings in your words.

You are close, here's why: I'm a music producer, youtuber, investor - and I can tell you that these lessons are universal. We quit right before we were going to make progress. My goal in learning a tiny portion of Blender is to create space scenes for my new Channel: The Great Construct. I can afford to have a very narrow focus because I'll literally be doing similar animations all the time for my videos; even with this limited scope, I am finding it hard to get started. However, I know from all of my past ventures that when you start, it's the most confusing time, you make the most progress, and get the most joy as you see it working. This is the initial phase...everything you learn catapults your skill. There will come a time after this where any further practice is not improving your skill...this is the creative dip...expect it, lean into it, charge towards it with daily practice. Daily practice, even if you don't feel like it, will cause Quality to develop out of Quantity. Reason? Your mind only keeps the important parts in your memory. As you learn and relearn, you reinforce certain pathways - and it will "click" one day...or you'll feel like you are no longer helpless. This happens in every single human endeavor. On my channel, I try to teach how to create wealth - same principals apply there as well.

I've been using Element 3d, Maya & Zbrush since 2015 and because of my experience, when I started using Blender last Year, 2019 I've been impressed with what I can achieve with it, especially the new 2.8 version release, currently using 2.83. The journey has been difficult, but it's enjoyable and worth the time. I'm grateful for this video, it has elevated me more. Thank you.

I found this video on my timeline and it was much needed. I know comparison is the theft of joy, but I keep trying to be like the things I see on Pinterest and DeviantArt. Right now I’ve started the process of trying to learn blender (for like the 4th or 5th time) and then gotten to the point where I wanna give up because I don’t feel like I’ll ever measure up. It really means a lot to me that you spoke to me directly in this video to tell me that I shouldn’t give up on trying to create something new. Thank you for your beautiful soul.

Im trying to make a spartan shield, Im having so much trouble when I start to sculpt, I lose all smoothing, its driving me nuts but im not giving up until iv done it. Seems like fate brought this video to my feed, I needed this man, im not giving up until I make this shield. Thank you.

@@dreddd7980 I did make it mate, it took a long time but not only did I make it I started making commission shields and weapons for peoples game mods and I'm still doing it today. It's not bags of money but I'm enjoying the hobby now more than ever and it does bring in a nice little cushion so I don't have to touch my full time jobs money

This is one of the times that I didn't skip an ad, thank you for motivating me.

I made my first basic animation a couple weeks ago and have made a couple since then. All though they are very basic and short I actually feel a since of pride watching them. Imma dedicate and focus on learning Blender, I get excited thinking about it. Kudos to the creator and team of developers for making such an awesome program. I'm still surprised that's it free because you can do so much with it.

Wow, what an inspiring entry; I had to listen to it twice because it was so good. Your channel name is well deserved. As others have said, this applies to any field of expertise. I'm studying math at the moment and you go through the same self-doubt, fear and wanting to give up etc. But, ever so slowly, if you persevere, the improvement, and the gratification starts manifesting. I started studying it 5 years ago at high school level and am now in University; I was 43 years old when I started and worried that it was 'too late' for me to begin, but I went for it anyway. I also think you are making a very powerful point of 'being a contributor' as opposed to only a consumer. That's a great ideal to be pushing for, because you are leaving behind something of value that others can benefit from. I started learning blender in December 2018. By July 2019 I had given up in frustration after 'many' train wrecks and junked projects. Came back around October 2019 and, after getting some guidance my skills improved very quickly, and I was able to make some models, not using tutorials but reference photos, that were quite impressive considering my level. Then hit a roadblock again in April this year, so I slowed down and fell off the wagon again. Now after some more learning, and finding out what what I was overlooking, I'm going back in with more confidence than before. It's a slow process and a crooked road, but the improvement is coming. I am amazed when I look at the models I first tried to make and compare them with what I have been able to achieve recently; it's almost hard to believe I actually modeled them; probably because at one point I believed I could never do it.

Damn, thanks man, as a student in an animation school, I'm kinda scared about my level in the future. But thanks for giving me, no, us, the faith we needed.

You must have the humility to be a beginner again. If you can move through that you can do anything. It is crazy how may companies, films, bands, writers, performers and more went from an idea to within ten years being huge. The first 1-2 years though are the hardest since most the time you barely see progress

I never finished university and lost my job. Was unemployed for 2 years. In this time I taught myself how to code, I wrote a book (and I am working on the second one) and now I am working as a junior dev in a company and have a stable income. The point is: Chose wisely what your do with your time. Spend it learning and working and you will start to notice change.

@@harlequin9912 Hi there. The book is a coming of age fantasy novel. So no, the book itself has nothing to do with my coding experience. I thaught myself through free courses (codecademy and youtube) at some point I got myself some udemy courses. From there on its iron will (coded every day for 1-3 hours) and a lot of trial and error.

Malgosh thats pure dedication. I signed for a free coding class and while I liked it, it was frustrating as I wasn’t just completing the exercises (I couldnt reach the expected result). I got frustrated that I’ve put it off for now. So I’m kinda envious when I see people saying they learned how to code by themselves.

Debugging is a big part and if you ever get to work in software engineering, you will remembeer my words. I can give you an advice: Keep going, you will geet better at it. Baby step after baby step.

I need this, recently I started learning game development, illustration and animation and I really feel discouraged because I am too old and I do not have enough resources. @@grash8 I've heard someone say that many times before. It really depends on the original meaning of the scripture and who translates it from Hebrew/Aramaic. When God rested on the 7th day it could just mean he stopped cause he finished what he intended. The Sabbath was created for humans. Humans were not created for the Sabbath. 7 days a wk and Sat/Sun (Jews/Christians) off to stop work to honour God. The devil is always trying to cause conflict between humans. Some other translations compared to the New International or King James Version Bibles that are the most well known to the public: (International Standard Version) By the seventh day God had completed the work he had been doing, so on the seventh day he stopped working on everything that he had done. (NET Bible) By the seventh day God finished the work that he had been doing, and he ceased on the seventh day all the work that he had been doing. This gives you some idea of the power of God: (Isaiah 40: 28) (NIV) Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.

Knowing and coming to terms with that everything isn't going to come to you immediately is key, using goals to keep striving. My work, just over the past few years, intimidates my friends but I never can stress enough to them that I have struggled and still do regularly, just a little less each day. Once a long project is finished and out, the feeling of satisfaction is so fulfilling.

For me at least the big problem isnt learning, its being creative. I learn fast but im not creative, i can copy someone else complex work with no problem. But i dont want to. I want to make my own OCs my own futuristic weapons my own original storys but i cant, i dont know how to create. Sometimes when i see something i like i think: see that could be something you could have made but now i cant because it has been already created and making it again would be plagiarism. I just have a year and half of experience but i think i should be doing some minimal decent stuff but by now but i cant :(

you need more QUANTITY...keep creating. Quality and Creativity comes out of repetition...how? your mind tries to remember the things you keep doing and then NATURALLY, it starts to become creative and add onto that experience after some time. You'll start to "see" details which weren't visible to you before. Takes a bit of time - you need to get very basics down. I'm not a 3D artist, I do other creative works...but the concepts are the same.

This really helps. All of today I was having issues making anything at all, but this helped since I did feel really discouraged. I do take a lot of this to heart since I am an artist and I am trying to better myself in that aspect and in addition to 3d modeling I'm also picking up 2d animation because I know I need to have a lot of diversity when it comes to art.

You can "learn" blender but if you're not already an artist, you probably can't even use it....

Dude, im using Blender on a core i3, 4gb ram and Intel hd graphics 4000, it's shitty hardware, but possible to render, yeah it will take more time but you can do it

If you really are passionate about 3D, you should consider investing a few hundred bucks for a PC upgrade. You already invest so much time learning all this, don't get stopped by a slow computer...these days you don't have to spend much for a decent PC.

It's the same about everything in life, you can translate this speech to whatever journey you want to take and you will become one of the bests at it
