I became friends with Stan after college and remember him playing everyday online thinking what the hell is this kid gonna do in ten years. He grinded it out, moved to Costa Rica, is killing it in Vegas and is more successful than I would have imagined ten years ago or so..i've always admired that kids determination and mentality of grinding it out
Needed to see this see you guys in 2 years when I’m 21 and making thousands in Vegas I wish all the poker players reading this luck
This was beautiful. Definitely enjoyed and needed to hear these stories. See you guys within 2 years

The section starting at 51:08 is just absolutely wonderful, well done. It speaks to a place in me that really hears and understands the words that they are saying.

53:46 - you know a good song when you hear it you know a good meal when you taste it but how do you measure it? There's a certain quality to things that you know are there but its very difficult to measure it You probably find some of the most satisfying moments in your life are not moments that you could measure by how much it costs or how much expense

This shit made me cry lol. I got into it late 2004. I’ve been in Las Vegas for 5 years now and kinda turned my back on why I came out here. And while I don’t wanna be the best at the game, I do wanna be a world champion one day. I got into it for the sustainability, the extra source of income it brought into my life and the therapy it can bring into ones life. Like teaching you discipline in the form of patience, observance, maintaining mental maturity. Last summer was difficult. My wsop BR went to bad habits, stopped coaching, therapy and training. But I had money. A recipe for disaster at times. Lol. You can tell by my comment I’m lonely in this fact that I want to speak out about what this shit means to me..

Update, I’ve slowly grinded it up in the micros. I started in micro sngs and grinded up through 3 stakes with a 20% ROI over 650 games. Took that money out and switched to cash. And it’s going well. The dream is in the early stages. I hope to play full time in the next couple years.

@@royston7579 how so? Online you can have 5 players on same table sharing card info via screen share, video chat, etc. Imagine knowing 10 cards your opponent couldn't have. How can poker sites possibly stop players from colluding when everyone is logged in through different IP?
@royston7579

@@liutasllc6338 and if you play decent stakes online and you suspect someone is cheating the site can just look at all the data. live there is no data
@liutasllc6338
3 жыл бұрын
@@royston7579 many sites have trouble dealing with obvious bots. How are they going to prove someone is cheating when colluding players use different computers and different internet providers? Lets say me and you are friends. You live in New Jersey and I live in Nevada. We join same room some time apart and call each other on phone, facetime or whatever app. As we get dealt in we can see each others cards. Just 2 extra cards is 4% of the deck. Now imagine 3-4-5 colluding players. One can gain a huge edge being able to eliminate villains possible hands. If colluding players rotate when playing no data could prove anything. Guess you haven't heard about poker farms in third world countries where dozens of players live in same place and pool resources and split winnings. Bigger cash games cheating is a given. But even in tourneys players chip dump to each other and once students get deep in tourneys they have their pro teachers take over to go for big $. I play online tourneys and do pretty good. You'd never catch me on a cash table though. Unless you play heads up you asking for it. I personally know a poker player who went to a spot in Mexico to do this and heard of numerous places like it in Asia. Big reason many legit poker pros don't play cash games online.
