    I gotta say that even if i don't play any game competitively and i don't watch tournaments on any game, For Honor seems to me very pleasant to watch as a game and that video was really interesting. It truly helped me see the huge, huuge gap between any casual match (even those that have rep150+) and the competitive scene. I learned some tricks, thanks to your commentary and was not ready to see so much caution on a 4v4 match. Cheers!

    True but ubi fucking sucks at balance. On console where I play, look at raider. Look at hitokiri. Look at lawbringer. All of them can get away with easy light spam. Raider is just beyond broken, hito can do almost 40 damage with 2 lights. Law is literally 100% safe and gets a bit too much off of a parry. He's all around too safe and has no need of 400 millisecond lights.

    Once again I think this video is very helpful for anyone playing For Honor - casual and (aspiring) comp player. The comments on your actions and decisions make a big difference from uncommented documentation of combat. I also openly admit to one thing - while I can extrapolate or understand certain comp terminology from simply watching or being exposed to it over time I have never had any actual definition of terms such as 1) rotation, 2) back-capping, 3) peeling. I believe I somewhat understand what it is but sometimes there are subtle nuances depending on situations where you apply these tactics and mechanics so having someone like you, craic, spell it out would be very appreciated! Maybe on your discord? Just to reiterate, great video, very helpful, great gameplay in the tournament!

    Ye totally agree, definitions are actually low key a big problem in For Honor but it’s something I’m working on doing something about in my free time when the motivation hits me. The game doesn’t have much terminology because it’s like a new genre.

    I hope I'm right by saying: Rotation: when the players rotate on points to be the most efficient in terms of healing and boosting the point, 1 player on A boosts it and heals, 2 players don't boost more than one player alone. Peeling: when another player on your team helps you out by fighting the enemies to let you get away and heal Backcapping: no idea I'm not 100% sure, but these are what I understood

    @@ZeroCraic Of course, but from what I read on the competitive subreddit anytime they talk about 500ms lights there are always those that say "easy parry, 500ms lights are useless". I just assume that the good players always parry at the right time. Serious question though -- can the good players parry the lights after determining if it's a light or heavy, or do they just react to the indicator and if it's a heavy adapt?

  • @Goblinade

    @Goblinade

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@hvgotcodes The thing about it is, you don't have to parry every 500ms for them to be useless. Moving my guard to block one is trivial at most, second nature. Clutchmeister probably can parry on reaction, since he has insane reactions. Which is why duels aren't competitive, most thigns are reactable and you only have ONE enemy to worry about, as opposed to 4s, where you have 7 other people to think about, and their feats and the map.

    There’s games with waaaaaay less viable character variety than For Honor that still have double the size competitive scene, depth and strategy. And that’s a great thing about foursies because you don’t need every detail that makes a good 1v1 hero to be a relevant or even useable 4v4 hero. If you are looking at balance especially for 1v1s as criteria for if the game can be competitive, then I don’t know what to tell you, because I don’t know about you but this looks like a 4v4 tournament to me. So I don’t know what 1v1 balance has to do with why 4v4 tournaments happen or not.
