    Instead of raising both feet with high heel, use pneumatic stool to sit on. It can then be adjusted low enough to make your thighs parallel to the floor, or even higher, depends on how tall you are. If your thighs are just parallel, you'll need a guitar cushion in conjunction, preferably the one with a strap and pneumatic.

    in most cases, posture related back or hip pain comes not from a certain "bad" posture, but staying in any ONE posture for too long and being in that certain position way too often. this goes often hand in hand with not enough movement through the day. for musicians (for everybody, really) it is so very important to counter that tendency to stay healthy long term. As guitar is a particular nasty instrument, when it comes to body positions, the device shown in the video surly helps. But it is more important to SWITCH positions than to avoid a certain "unhealthy" position. I play with my guitar on the right leg, then switch it to my left (with a stool or without) after a couple of minutes. When I am playing for very long, I might stand up straight and use a strap. Changing the angles in your hips, shoulders, elbow, wrist, etc every couple of minutes prevents your muscles to tighten up too much and there will be no pain if you do not have other issues already. And even if you do not want to hear it, doing yoga, some resistance training or going for a run every couple of days, does also go a looong way. you do not need to be the "sporty" guy or girl, if you do not want to be that person, but you need to physically challenge your whole body to stay healthy. as musicians we tend to only use very specific parts of our body and ignore the rest. 1 hour of effective training every 3-4 days is absolutely enough to avoid these problems. you will not become a huge muscle bro or "waste" a lot of time doing this, while getting 90% or the health benefits.

    Dude.. when I can’t think you’re any more cool you just go and do something like this!! I have always hated footstools. The likely problems I anticipate with this support is about the piece of steel inside the guitar:- 1. How easy to install it. 2. How heavy it is. 3. Is it made of stainless steel? 4. Will the presence of the metal affect the sound? Also, how powerful is the magnet, can the support slides when you are playing and causes scratch mark on the varnish?

  • @JCASHrip
    @JCASHrip2 жыл бұрын

    I will definitely consider these as I hate the way the foot stool makes my leg feel after awhile. What do you think about gluing the magnets to the inside of the guitar though? That is kind of a turn off for me. If you need to adjust them do they come off easily? Do they affect the resonance or acoustics of the guitar at all? Thanks for the video!

  • @davidcook3795
    @davidcook37952 жыл бұрын

    Absolutely. Switching from a footstool to sageworks was the best thing I ever did with guitar. I personally believe that a bout with sciatica was due to hours of footstool use. The chair height is very important as well, but sageworks has been a back saver. It also cost about the same as a chiropractor visit. Saved a bunch of those.

    Alright, I'm going to buy one. I have been having issues with my back lately as well and think this will help. • @cracgor
    @cracgor2 жыл бұрын

    Cool review. I sadly transitioned from a similar support to a footstool. I find the biggest issue with my back is related to the chair and not the support. The magnets snapping to my guitar would give me some pause for concern. Are the feet padded? I assume so cause you've had no problems with messing up the finish. Also, what do you do if you get a third guitar? Do you have to get a new frame then?

  • @souldier2425

    @souldier2425

    Been using my sageworks support for years. If you attach the support at an angle it does not slam into the guitar. Zero damage to the finish of my guitars. For every new guitar you just buy another set of magnets. You can use the same support for 100 different guitars if you wanted. You just need to install a set of magnets in each instrument.

    A frames are great, the problem comes when you play electric guitar which you definitely need to be elevating your leg for, because wearing a strap will do more bad for your back than a foot stool. The main problem i have is they're flimsy, they force your foot to be in an annoying bent position, and they're TOO SHORT. I end up putting my foot on a box, cos for some reason no manufacturer addresses these blatant glaring issues. Unfortunately you're right, all foot stools suck.

    Also the standard ProLine footstool that EVERYONE uses (**clears throat** the black one seen in this video) has an extraordinarily small, tiny area of not expensive metal that can (and does) snap very easily the “bigger-a-person” you are. If you have one, turn it over, and look where the legs cross and make the X shape. A small nut holds that and imagine pressing your foot down and loot at the tiny Slab of unsupported leeeetle metal that can ,honestly, just bend and the whole footstool is useless. As a “bigger-a-person” myself and 15yr+ instructor, I always suggest a wooden stool for your hooves only if you don’t have an A Frame or a stack of books, a guitar case, the end of a bed frame, literally ANYTHING is better than said hoof stool. Footstools suck but I have had the same £6 footstool for years and these A frames cost almost 20x that. That being said they look real nice and I'm just jealous I don't have one.
