I know this is an old video so hope you get this message, but just curious when I watch High School, College, and NFL football is this generally how almost every footballer suits up for the most the most part. (as i know some do not wear the compression shirt, or wear the football socks rather than leggings) And from your understanding do most football players still wear jockstraps or is that phasing out ? and if you dont what protects you ?

This video is educational, so I take far longer than I would in the locker room. However also getting prepared for a game does involve getting in the right mental state so there might be some relaxed or meditating times that other players do while getting suited up. some guys come in and take an hour and listen to music and get their head right. I get in... get relaxed. suit up in about 3 minutes and then get my head right. Not everyone makes Tacos the same way but in the end they all kind turn out similar. Some still wear a jock strap but not a cup. My girdle is all in one, it functions like a jock strap and all 7 needed pads for the Netherlands rules. I don't know what the obsession is with cups in the comments of this video but until I started playing in Europe I never saw someone wear a cup. Many players in the states said they wore won in little league because it was required but never after that.

@@dashric Thanks, as i was more into the gear of football, so was very interesting to see what one wears, I from the states and watch a lot of NFL football as well see a lot of High School football from when our local news covers it. I think in recent years compression tights/leggings have now taken over from the traditional socks,, as was I think, girdle w/pads, football pants, knee high socks, cleats, upper pads and jersey along with elbow pads, gloves, and helmet, Now it appears as the compression leggings are part of most football gear as what appears to be over the knee socks may really be compression leggings, As for the cup, never played football or much sports but more in the gear, and i was taught or learned that the cup was almost essential to protect the privates, so when one doesnt wear a cup just was confused on that area is protected.

I found your video because my mom was confused why guys had loose shirts coming out from under their uniforms. So I found this and sent it! Really cool! Thanks for sharing. Getting stuck in the pads was so relatable.

I lived in Portland Oregon in this video. My football practice was in January to April at 9 am. Many times it would be below freezing.. Yes we stay warm enough

Really the only things required are 7 legs pads, shoulder pads, helmet, cleats, and mouthguard. That's all we require here in the Netherlands and it seems pretty common in the USA also. I would think Gloves that help you catch would be needed for a receiver, but they should only be a tool to help, not a replacement for hands.

I have a video coming out later today that Talks to European folks that want to try American football, because the lockdowns put a lot into perspective. I would first get used to the sports. Try the sport out WITH pads on... we hit different in this sport than in rugby. I have a whole playlist of Football 101, designed to teach mostly europeans about this weird sport. You are already ahead with your knowledge of rugby, you will be able to adapt much of what you do there into American Football. My best suggestion / tip is to stay inline with the same position you play. However AF has Two sides of the ball.. which makes two types of playstyle and two sides of a team. If you like advancing the ball and running... Offense. If you like Ending a poor soul and stopping their progress.. defense. If you are a Scrum player Lineman/Linebacker

Finding the backstraps to the shoulder pads is alway tricky but you did good, the only miss was not slipping cup protection in when you put on the the padded compression shorts

Thank God for all the gear. People say NFLers are pansies for using all that armor. People fail to realize that the gear allows the sport to be full contact and real lay down the big hits. Without all the gear we would have injuries every game and just whole different type of game altogether. Have fun playing. I want to join a Norwegian league and while I’m not the tallest and biggest what I love about gridiron football is that there is a job a position and a place for every human type on the team. I’m a fast runner, background in material arts, slippery like an eel, I think a wide receiver might be a good spot for me 😊
