Lol make sure to watch the fake behind the scenes documentary about Kirk Lazarus. It's parodying the making of Apocalypse Now and it's hilarious. Only a man who's lost his mind with drugs at one point (RDJ) could be able to fake that insanity in a believable way

Fascinating and it shows the talent that we sometimes take for granted. I love the behind the scenes clips we get now but I also think it takes a little of the magic away. But I’ll still watch these clips all day long 😂

I dont think it was the perfect one he was after but more options for the editing. More takes more options. And every time camera goes from RDJ to Ben and vice versa boom theres a different scene. Basically ends up being a conversation they didnt actually have haha. But must be exhausting at times that. But meh they get paid well to do it haha.

He made it perfectly clear that he was playing 2 dudes that are alterations based on the psyche of a primary 3rd dude... And then he wants to go back to the first dude, that doesn't actually exist, but Tug keeps him in the positive feedback loop that he, himself is in... it's so fucking beautiful... Did not realize how deep the development of this scene went and how funny it could get.

I like how RDJ's first takes are used in the actual end cut, and Ben's later takes are spliced in to the end cut. RDJ's improvisation ability and overall comedic sense of timing and commentary are better than Ben's. Perfect casting, writing, acting and directing... what a classic film.

RDJ is an incredible actor in everything he has ever done. Have you ever seen Less Than Zero or Chaplin (for which he won a best actor Oscar)? Even in some of his less mainstream films like 1969 (with Kiefer Sutherland) and Chances Are (with Cybill Shepherd), his talent was on full display. He has always been one of the best.

Searched for this clip JUST for that reason. His acting is so different and convincing as this character. Had to see him with the makeup on but speaking with his normal voice... and its surreal. The real RDJ is actually very similar to Tony Stark.

This is actually pretty insane watching stiller direct and act at the same time, while RDJ stays in character and leads. I assume they worked better improvising a general idea of a conversation rather than a script. Love this movie for the great acting over the minute to minute humor, shit had no dead points. CLASSIC

3:30 i just realized something....the thing even tougher than delivering such intense line was that they had to keep a straight face and stay in character while they stare onto each other for 2 minutes straight.....i can barely look at a person for 30 seconds and not lose it

To do this for hours and hours and starting from the top to do multiple shots while remembering lines definitely takes some crazy mental focus

This is great to watch Ben direct the scene and also act.
