My very first model kit was an AMC kit of a 67 impala station wagon called QUICK SILVER! I found the kit on a shelf in our home and my mom said go ahead so I took it to my room and got to work! It had no instructions in the box and I had never even attempted one before but in about three hours time I had it completed! Became hooked from there! Been building kits of all kinds ever since! Cut you out a red piece of crate paper to fit over the plug wires and it will look like an MSD ignition!😀👍

The only thing with using super glue on plug wires is it tends to wick between the wires and makes it hard to bend wiring later, I tend to group all the wiring together and drill one hole and epoxy them all at once.

I was going to buy a can of House of Customs Tangelo until I saw that it's $26.00 for a 4oz bottle! Yikes! Good looking paint though. The truck looks great. I have one. I think it's one I'll be building soon. That era F100 is my favorite. My Dad had two 1:1 when I was a kid, one he used for parts and the other was an unrestored beater that still ran pretty good.

I think shes Beautiful!!!! Nice work!!! It is a Great kit. I lay my paint down in 20 minute flash coats. If my color coats are going well, I'll start laying my clear down 20 minutes after my last color coat and continue with 3 coats. this only applies if I'm useing the same brand of paint all the way through. If not I will wait at least a week, as long as a month if color coats are enamel before lightly sanding the body and applying clear. My favorite clear is Tamiya TS-13 spray can. Air brush I have used Scale Finishes Super Clear and their 2K clear, Gravity Colors 2K clear, Duponts 2K, and decanted Duplicolr clear. All with Great results. Hope this helps??? I'll be watching

Plug wires & looms & distributes are a lesson in patience......... uggggh, the things we do 4 model cars ... Lol. It is a tough thing because the cap is really not designed to fit 8 boots as cool as the look is.

Your using to large of boots and wiring. You need 30awg wire and 28awg boot wire. Its always a learning process, I drill out 9 holes for a V-8 9th wire goes to the coil. Looks good first gotta learn sometime buddy!

I stopped using clear, I use future floor polish. I Personally don’t think you need clear unless you’re handling the model a lot. My model sit in a case. So future floor polish is plenty good enough. And it brings out a nice shine.

Nice work! I am in the UK...new to the hobby I started this year lockdown 1..... I am out of work so I have been experimenting full time since the first lockdown.....I have only finished one model! and a few others close slow progress due to the learning curve.. I am not qualified to tell you how to paint..... But I can relate to your struggles...... with the rattle cans I have found a light tac coat to start... followed by a few wetter coats.... works ok for me...but I still have orange peel that's bad no matter what I do!.... so I have to wet sand..... I have an unbranded airbrush..... my main problem with that is dust and lint in the paint....it ends up a mess....but at least less orange peel and I can sand out the mess......I am getting better results with rattle cans but I think that is because less contamination gets on the body because I rattle can outside....maybe the answer for me is to use my airbrush outside?.... however UK weather LOL.... easier said than done.....for clear I use rattle can gloss.... either Tamiya or PlastiKote..... i have some 2k..... used it through my airbrush outdoors.... the results were ok.... but but bad orange peel no matter what I do..... i have watched all the videos and tried to copy but its not working for me.... i need to wet sand everything...... I have found that the 2k looks no better to me after a wet sand than the 1k also wet sanded..... the main advantage for me with 2k is it is more forgiving when it comes to wet sanding....easy to burn through the 1k.... however stays soft longer! I think if left for 3 weeks to fully harden then that would help....... I will not be liked for saying this but I think 1k is good enough! just wait for it to fully cure..... start another model and go back..... only touch 2k if you can stay safe..... it only lasts 6 months once opened! I am surprised no one has told you that on the comments....I got mine from my local auto paint store in there smallest amount so only £20 and I will not use most of it..... I had an accident with it..... I spilt some in my kitchen sink..... the stuff will not come off!.... so I now need to buy a new kitchen sink and install that now :) it could have been worse! outdoors only for me with that stuff.... keep the videos coming and great to see you having fun with it..... its meant to be fun!

Looks awesome. What specific silver did you use? I strip paint/chrome with Easy off gel oven cleaner...won’t harm the styrene, easy clean up. 2k clear is super predictable once you get the hang. Splash paints clear is good and not too much $. You can decant tamiya TS spray can paint and use that in your airbrush...very predictable

Get your self a Paasche H and for clear i love speedokote smr1150 is the speedo line clear and the Activator is smr-1101-Q FAST.That's a 2k clear one light coat 5min then 2 or 3 wet coats 5 min between each coat & over lap each pass. Good luck. Buy it on Amazon.

IMHO It's not what you use,It's how you use it. I use the cheapest automotive paint ( color ) and the least expensive automotive clear coat. For me it starts when I open the box. I do the best block sanding and prep I can. Spray your color ( base coat ) as best you can.( let dry over night ) Find and repair any issues. Follow the instructions on whatever Clear your using ( you have to be part chemist to paint these days ) Color sand with 2000 grit sand paper ( smooth out the orange peel ) ( very important ) Polish with automotive rubbing compound. ( 3M ) Practice practice practice is the key. You build nice models. The killer paint job will set you over the top ! :)
