Goes a bit deeper than that. Peter Freudenthaler, wrote the song about his depression, however there's more. His girlfriend died in a car accident, she crashed with a lemon tree. The blue sky is about sunny happy days, and he just sees a lemon tree due to his depression thinking about it but also because lemons are bitter. From that point on he's only sad waiting for her, but never going to come. Is one of those catchy tunes with odd lyrics.

Every single song from the late 1900’s always attracts my attention, they have something unique about them and I’m glad that we are able to listen to them so easily because of the internet

When I was in the 5th grade, our native teacher would play this song from Lyrics Training on the smart board and we would try to sing it. Sometimes I would come and listen to it and remember those days.

Listening again as an adult, I am astounded at how simple yet powerful the lyrics are. Anyone can get the meaning behind "blue sky" and "lemon tree". Songs like this are overlooked for they can be understood so easily.

The blue sky is symbolism for happiness and joy, and everybody just talks about how great life is and just look at all the happy and good things, but all you can see are lemon trees, which are symbols for bitterness and sourness, as lemons are. The song is not a representation of the vocalists partners passing, but rather a song that is meant to symbolize depression.

Omg I love this song so much!!

I remember listening to this and crying the day before i went into labor. My husband was emotionally and verbally very abusive. My son is a cute 4 year old now. Im safe with my parents, away from my abuser. I remember bursting into tears at the da da da dee da da part. This song was painful and soothing at the same time.

I searched "lemon tree fools garden official music video" and didnt got this until I watched another lemonTree-vid, so its near to impossible this one will get the attention it deserves before the unofficial ones(witch one of them has "Official video" in title). Sad, a huge problem for the real artist, but a know problem on youtube.
